Upgrade your tech while it's still remotely affordable.

Can't wait for the med shortages to hit...

Does this idiot really think we can just start production here in short order? A few months at most, right?

Donald is an idiot, but he is also a crazy man who is likely consciously attempting to hurt his own people.

I think this is sadism combined with cognitive decline. Others may think he's doing it for Russia or because China paid him off.

All these theories can be true.

Losers fretting about the cost of some melted sand.

Meanwhile, I'm rocking my slide rule like a boss!

... computer chips made in Taiwan, warning the tariffs could reach as high as 100%. ...

I can understand wanting to bring manufacturing back to the United States.

I'd like to see that happen.

But I have to ask a couple three questions ... (you had to know that was coming. :)     )

1) Are these excessive tariffs the best way to accomplish that goal? Or even a way to accomplish that goal?

2) how does this action jibe with one of Pres trump's main campaign promises to bring down prices?

3) how does deporting the labor force that the companies and corporations in the Country have come to rely upon help to make Pres trump's assertions that foreign countries should relocate their factories in the United States?

@#5 ... I'm rocking my slide rule like a boss! ...

Hey, a slide rule helped me to get through college.

I remember a freshman year Engineering Lab assignment, it required a full 24-hours on the slide rule. calculating standard deviations and such.

Back then, a basic four-banger calculator cost around $500 (close to $5000 in current dollars).

And here is why I think this is all weird theater...
If Trump were actually able to force American industry to end their offshore ways, American unions would be very powerful, and for the most part, antiTrump as the Republican Party is very antiunion.
So he will mess with a lot of people, but in the end, what the tariffs will amount to will be grifting tools, look at how Tesla stays in business by the 100% tariff on Chinese eVs. Musk crossed Trump's palm with 250 million dollars.

Um, hey there Dotard. Ever been to the far north side of Phoenix, up in Deer Valley, to see the new TSMC fab plant? Hard to miss from the highway, at about 4MM square feet of space. Just look to the west, just north of the USAA campus. Locals say it will go on line later this year, and that it was built in the US to avoid risks from Mainland China. It will be pumping out all kinds of chips, for use right here in the US of A. Tariff free too. Go see it sometime. You have a plane, and there are plenty of gawlf courses nearby...
