Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The transgender high school athlete whose participation in this weekend's California track and field championships prompted President Donald Trump to threaten to remove state funding reached the podium in all three events Saturday. A.B. Hernandez, a public high school junior in Southern California, took first place in the high jump and the triple jump, and finished in second place in the long jump in the finals.

Following criticism from some in the community who said A.B.'s participation prevented lower-ranked competitors from advancing to the championships this weekend, the high school sports governing body allowed more cisgender girls, whose gender identity conforms with their sex assigned at birth, to compete.

The California Interscholastic Federation also said if a transgender athlete earned medals in an event, their ranking wouldn't prevent a "biological female" from medaling as well, the Associated Press reported. That means A.B. shared the top spot with two co-winners in the high jump and one co-winner in the triple jump.

Fairer, anyway.

Probably the best compromise until trans get their own sports divisions.

#6 | Posted by donnerboy at 2025-06-02 02:02 PM | Reply

I never said Trans people don't exist. I have been told here numerous times that this doesn't happen, and it's a made scenario used to exclude people.

But they do exist AND despite being told they are increasingly winning more and more womens events... I keep seeing more and more events one by Transgender competitors.

So what's your actual point there Donnerboy? Because I think you were looking to land a zinger and whiffed badly

A decent compromise might be then they can compete, but not displace someone from the Podium, qualifying positions, etc...

And you'll quickly see it's not a great compromise. A great compromise is that everyone refers to them as a female, uses their pronouns, etc... but if they want to compete, it's against the boys.

If we are going to have a mixed biology event. Then have it in the boys group, not the girls. Gender doesn't matter, so why does it HAVE to be the girls that make concession?

Why are you so jealous?

Start hormone therapy, get the surgeries, and then you too can compete as a trans woman.

What's funny is, most people couldn't care less about women's sports, until transgender women started competing.

#11 | Posted by ClownShack at 2025-06-02 02:50 PM | Reply

What a weak deflection, I and I'm sure others aren't jealous.

And is that the line you and the left uses to choose what's important? If people have shown a large interest in something in the past? Not right and wrong? That's interesting.

Even given that bar, I've been interested in women's sports for the majority of my life as I have family members, female, that compete. One at the national level.

Also, why would protecting women's sports been an issue for the general public to "care" about? It wasn't something that was at risk. So other than enjoying them, and knowing they existed for women to enjoy.

Why do you care about climate change you didn't care about it before we knew that CO2 was rising? You only care now that we see negative effects. Sounds pretty dumb right? So do you.

Oh dear. Did you just get reverse trolled?

It sure ruffled YOUR feathers. Bazinga!!

You are apparently very invested in this topic. I hope it doesn't ruin your day. I personally feel certain that competitive sports will work it out eventually now that Trans (am I allowed to say Trans?) have asserted themselves in the field of competitive sports. So it doesn't really bother me and I find your concerns about something you are not even involved in very trite and amusing.

Recognizing that there is a problem is the first step to solving it.

Now at least you maroons have to recognize that Trans do exist.

Trans athletes should compete in the mens/boys. Exercising their rights shouldn't restrict women's rights. They have a right to compete, not saying they don't. They don't have a right to women's sports though.

For me the question is really who decides.
And that trans people should have some say in the decision making process.
I also don't think people outside the sport should make the decision.
Finally, I don't see why each sport can't police itself.

"Trans athletes should compete in the mens/boys"

As for your proposed solution: What about trans men, who were born female, and take testosterone. Do they compete with the other women, the men, or are they barred from competition because they are using steroids? And if so there's no "right to sports" if you're a trans man?

If it were up to me I would give them LSD and ask them did they change gender so they could get on the podium. :)

To answer your question snoofy, exactly because of the Testosterone I'd put them in the mens category too for competition.

None of this is a perfect solution. But it allows everyone to play/compete, while not interfering with the rights of girls/women.

At least this way everyone gets to participate

Snoofy,

"But then, what about the males on testosterone blockers who identify as women?
You want to have it both ways."

You're missing the core issue.

Male bodies, even after hormone suppression, retain physical advantages simply because they developed male. Lowering testosterone doesn't alter that.

And let's be honest. Trans men aren't lining up to compete against biological males. Why? Because most wouldn't win.

Either you're woefully uninformed, or you're just trolling. Hard to tell which.
