California Governor Gavin Newsom took to X to slam the Trump administration, saying, "Donald Trump and JD Vance think that shutting down the I-5 to shoot out missiles from ships is how you respect the military. PUT ASIDE YOUR VANITY PARADE AND PAY OUR TROOPS INSTEAD."

Camp Pendleton is located in northern San Diego and is a very beautiful location along the pacific coast.

But there's not much out there, mainly just the I-5 and acres of federal land.

I don't see how having a military parade there would interfere with protests. (Unless someone from San Diego was planning on driving up to Orange County or Los Angeles to join a protest. Or vice versa.)

I mean. I could be missing the big picture. Seems more like an attempt at distracting from the protests rather than interfering with them.

I'm sure our rightwing controlled media will focus on the parade and largely ignore the protests.

Off the coast of SoCal down to Bjaja, there is a Danger Area, which is probably what they are talking about, but you can't see it from the beach.
I do now earlier this week there was an exercise off the BigSur coast where we lost a Hawkerhunter.
