He's been indicted. He won't be impeached. MAGA can sleep well tonight knowing that that their perfect losing streak is intact.

How does one get a high paying job where one does meaningless things when not doing anything at all? Republican majority Congress.

Re 1

He is impeached. He won't be convicted. He hasn't committed any crimes.

Just more maga Trumpy nonsense designed to waste our time and distract us so we cannot get anything done.

Average American Voter

Huh what? the guy who drafted the bill on the border that the republicans refused to pass? that guy? Why would the impeach him?

... The vote was 214-213, with three Republicans again opposing the impeachment. ...

1 vote majority?

Wow, what did Spkr Johnson has to give away to attain that last vote in favor?

If I may ask, at this point, how did the Republicans voting in favor of impeachment justify their vote with evidence that Homeland Security Sec Mayorkas committed, according to the Constitution, "high crimes and misdemeanors?"

What evidence was presented by those in favor?

Or is enforcing existing immigration laws now a "high crime or misdemeanor?"

How does this help Americans?

House Republicans:

Can't pass a budget
Refuse to vote in a border bill
Refuse to vote on foreign aid package
Get nothing substantive done

But the good news is, today they will likely take a second try at impeaching Mayorkas after it failed last time.

Working hard for YOU!

I think the realization is setting in that MAGA Mike is simply not going to allow the House to do anything at all this Congress other than to censure and impeach Democrats.

I think your comment may be a bit too specific.

I'd say....

I think the realization is setting in that Spkr Johnson is simply not going to allow the House to do anything at all other than that which fmr Pres Trump instructs him to allow.

Fmr Pres Trump controls the GOP now, right up to the current most important national GOP politician, the Speaker of the House. Think about that for a second or two.

Those in the Trump cult seem to revel in that control.

President Biden
@POTUS

History will not look kindly on House Republicans for their baseless impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas.

Instead of staging political stunts like this, House Republicans with genuine concerns about the border should want Congress to deliver more border security.

Sadly, the same Republicans pushing this impeachment are rejecting bipartisan plans to strengthen border security at this very moment.

Congress needs to act to give my Administration the tools needed to address the situation at the border.

Mike Johnson justifies Mayorkas impeachment, claiming desperate times call for desperate measures' " live

www.theguardian.com

So.... this is a desperate attempt at political retribution because the House can't manage to pass a Bill that gave them everything they wanted in Border security because they and Trump wanted that as a political issue to run on in the fall?

Trumpers may be too thick to notice this, but moderate swing voters are not.

So if you can be impeached for poor job performance, why wasn't trump impeached for getting an extra half million americans killed during covid?

This is all the house Republicans have. They can't function as a legislative body so they have to resort to political theater and revenge. How anyone who is paying the slightest bit of attention could lower themselves to vote for any Republican these days is mind boggling.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has all but admitted that the only reason for voting to impeach DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was to give Trump an issue that he can point to during his campaign. After all, it's unlikely that the Senate will even hold a trial, let alone convict him.

And keep in mind that if they had waited until today, after Tuesday's special election in New York, to vote to impeach Mayorkas, they would not have had enough votes (it would have been a tie). They had to hold the vote on Tuesday because that was the last chance that Speaker Johnson was going to get and he knew it.

House Republicans Impeach Mayorkas

Now that republicans have impeached Mayorkas, does he ever have to appear before any of their committees ever again?

Mayorkas should stop all cooperation with House Republicans; don't show up for hearings, don't send staff; don't provide documents. After all, he doesn't exist; they've lost all confidence in what he has to do or say; he's been impeached. What are they going to do? Impeach him again?
