Kate, the Princess of Wales, was diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy, she said in a video message released on Friday, two months after she underwent "major" abdominal surgery. "This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family," Kate, 42, said in the video, which was filmed at Windsor on Wednesday.

I am a big UK nerd except for the royals. It's just too stupid for me to support.

However on a human level this is sad news and I hope that she beats cancer.

She'll have the best care, unlike most people in this country. I wish her well.

Ooof. Cancer at 42 requiring major abdominal surgery? My best is ovarian or colon/rectal.

Colon cancer is younger populations has been rising the last few years quite a bit.

Not really into the whole royalty thing either. As an American I do not believe in the divine right of kings.

But she seems like a nice lady.

Good luck Catherine!

At least it wasn't hemophilia!

So do millions of other people. What makes hers special? At least she'll get the best healthcare in the world instead of being waitlisted and bankrupt like american cancer victims.

But why the photoshop family picture? Who were they hoping to fool, and why?
sometimes I think the ruling class is inherently dishonest and driven to lie constantly.

King Chuck got cancer. Now his daughter in law got cancer....

Look up the Curse of the Kohinoor diamond.

Only a woman can own it. All it's male owners either died miserably, or their kingdoms went bottoms up.

"But why the photoshop family picture? Who were they hoping to fool, and why?"

They obviously had a bad PR advice.

Looks like she took matters into her own hands.

My guess is that they Photoshopped a lot of photos over the years and the Kate secrecy led to this one shot getting scrutinized more.

It's sad for anyone to receive this kind of news at 42 ... or at any age.

Wishing her a full and speedy recovery.

Can't wait for the next moral lecture from these two about poor, ill-treated, misunderstood terrorists.

Next up for the hairshirt brigade: Forest Fires - Friend or Foe?

Congratulations, vultures. You bullied this lovely woman into disclosing her illness before she was ready.

It's Rupert Murdoch's tabloids to blame more than anything else behind the fervor over a photo.

IMO, why should anyone care if she played with her own photo? I never understood the "controversy."
