Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, February 26, 2025

On February 3, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order establishing a sovereign wealth fund (SWF) for the United States, aiming to create one of the world's largest such funds. Given the nation's $36 trillion debt, the administration is exploring funding options, including the potential sale of federal public lands. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated plans to "monetize the asset side of the U.S. balance sheet," referring to national parks, public lands, and natural resources as potential assets. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum estimated these federal lands could be worth up to $200 trillion. This approach has raised concerns about the preservation of public lands and their traditional uses, such as recreation and conservation.

It always come back to the grift: This time selling off public lands to finance a "Sovereign Wealth" slush fund for Trump. With Elon gutting agencies that regulate his businesses & Trump profiting from his scam meme coin & Saudi investments, it's the next stage of this Administration's corruption.

Yosemite National Park would be a wonderful location for Russian strip mining.

Just think how much money he could (personally) make destroying America.

Seems to be the overall goal.

"Seems to be the overall goal."

Yep.

Squeeze the very last dollar out of the US...and leave them with nothing but a mountain of bills, and a larger mountain of unfavorable contracts.

Always keep the George Will rule in mind: If Trump were sent to destroy America...

...what would he be doing differently?

This will fix one of the biggest things I have encountered in US parks... not enough parking and not enough hotels.

Just think how much trash can fit in the Grand Canyon.

Let's sell the space to China.

Lands included in the "Make an Offer" category: all non-tribal lands of Okiehomie, formerly known as 'The Unassigned Territories'...

FRICK! Already?

And I just posted this this morning "First step on the National scale, get rid of the staff and those that love the Parks. Second step, start selling off Federal resources, BLM operated lands, and federal properties (the latter is already in process). Third, cut the "red tape" that prevents development. It's going to be "Big Sky" all over again."

Desantis had a trial run for this; he proposed allowing developers to take over state parks and build golf courses and resort hotels there. To say he met with some resistance would be like saying the Alamo lunatics encountered some resistance. Ron has been quiet since then though he has had another couple of terrible ideas; First was a tax holiday for guns and ammunition which that fool announced during the same week that the Memorial for the 17 students and 3 teachers gunned down at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School was set to be opened. Lead balloon!
So now he is proposing an end to property taxes which fund public schools, police departments, fire departmentsm state parks, roads bridges, etc. It is basically a give away for the wealthy who own multi-million dollar mansiions Won't effect me; my property tax is $500 per year but mansions on the beach, different story. I imagine the property tax on Mara Lago is pretty considerable!

I wonder if it has ever been paid?

Danni, you aren't making any typos. Not sure if that means you're recovering, but hopefully that's what it means.

Remember these names and faces. They will be brought before the hangman's noose and the guillotines soon enough.
