... Why It Matters

Relations between the U.S. and Iran have fluctuated wildly since the start of the first Trump administration, hitting their lowest point when President Donald Trump ordered the assassination of Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani. He also withdrew unilaterally from the Iran nuclear deal that former President Barack Obama that established.

Iran then swore vengeance against Trump, allegedly planning an assassination of him as well as an Iranian American "journalist, author and political activist" critical of the Iranian regime. ...

accusing the nation of being a "bullying" power and questioning if it upheld commitments from previous agreements.

So, Iran seems to be quite wary of Pres Trump's apparent short-term approach to agreements (today it's this, tomorrow, it may be that).

I have to ask, is Iran wrong in that assessment? (And, I have to say ... that I have to ask questions from Iran's point of view should indicate the mess Pres Trump has placed the Country in)

I mean, just look at what Pres Trump is doing to our great friends to the North. The longest unprotected border in the world.

Yet Pres Trump seems to prefer aligning himself with a vicious dictator.

John Hiatt - Back Of My Mind (1990)

Lyrics excerpt ...

...
Well my daddy he stood at the foot of the stairs
He was calling to me at the time
And I knew even then, I could die for the thoughts
That I kept in the back of my mind

But I dared not to speak
How I felt for my dad
Cause there were no words to define
The ball of confusion, of feelings and junk
That I kept in the back of my mind

In mafia parlance, IRGC-QF Major General Qassem Soleimani's assassination "crossed a line" with the Iranians. During WWII, General George Patton was a High Value Target (HVT) and legitimate target of the enemy, like General Erwin Rommel was an HVT for the Allies. But had "Old Blood and Guts" been assassinated by Nazi resistance fighters after the war ended (AKA the "Werewolves"), the American public would have been pissed and called for their blood. The US was not in a Congressionally-declared war with Iran when Trumpf, in true mafia form, ordered the hit on MG Soleimani (who was a beloved hero and effective anti-ISIS commander). As we'd be pissed if someone took a shot at Obama, the Iranians are pissed that Trumpf and the neo-cons whacked Soleimani.

You need a citation that the 1945 American public would have been pissed if Patton was assassinated?

The American people adored "Old Blood and Guts." The Los Angeles Coliseum was packed to the gills in June 1945 to see him and General Doolittle. Here is General Patton being honored with a paper confetti parade.

Trumpanzee blew off a nuke agreement with Iran during his first term. The cl0wn brigade thought he wuz soooooo strong for being an @$$#0le. Iran has faced down the US more than once... even becoming an ally with Iraq after we got rid of their secular government... because of Turd2's war on terriers. Remember that was the era when Palestine elected Hamas... Nuttywahoo said getting rid of Saddam would fix everything...

We haven't won a war in 8 decades... and the republicl0wn hired a senile old serial loser to yell at everyone... blathering expansionist silliness he got from Putin ... but lacks the chops... no one is impressed anymore.

Remember when Turd insisted the war would pay for itself?

Trumpanzee said Mexicans would pay for a wall...

anyone see a pattern?

The US has a treaty in place to defend Ukraine from Russian aggression. Russia is a signatory on that treaty as well.

Both the US and Russia have tossed that treaty in the garbage.

They indistinguishable these days.

The melon felon has a history of making deals and then pissing on them. Just look one of his crowning achievements of his first term... the USMCA with Mexico and Canada. He touted it at the time that fixed one of the greatest injustices inflicted on the US...NAFTA and that the agreement will be great for the US. Well either he was a lying then or didn't understand all the provisions because his trade war with Mexico and Canada are a direct result of his hatred of the trade deal he "negotiated" himself. Either he got pantsed by Canada and Mexico or he was too stupid to understand it. Neither is a good look for a self declared business genius.

So like the buffoonish wanna be mob boss he just starts violating the agreement in an attempt to get a better deal. I wonder how bad this next deal will be. He certainly isn't any smarter now than then.

No one in their right mind would ever make a 'deal" with trump.

The US is now the new ------- of the world.

Republicans sold the terrorist Iranian Ayatollah billions of dollars in American made weapons in the 80s.

Republicans should never, ever be trusted in matters of foreign policy -- especially when it comes to Iran.

"You say Iran has not fulfilled its nuclear commitments. Well, did you fulfill yours?" Khamenei challenged.

NO, no we did not.
And now we have President Treaty-breaker back. What nation would ever believe we would honor a treaty with the Psycho-in-Chief at the helm?
