A surprise could emerge on the balcony after the white smoke clears.

I expect it'll be a cardinal in Francis' mold ... someone with longtime pastoral experience, not just Vatican administration.

They need someone younger than "old" with an actual leadership vision that can play out over a generation.

Hopefully someone compassionate but you never know the Catholics could just as soon side with the Fascists as they have in the past.

I don't think Lewzer has much of a shot.

He doesn't need to be the pope.

He just needs the pope to be some right wing maniac who agrees with all the hate conservatives embrace.

Fair enough.

Well, it won't be Pope Secola, sadly

Strong runner up is Pope Ayezchiken.

I'm going with another Jesuit pedophile so the Illuminati can maintain control.

Marco Rubio really wants the job, but they can't find a small enough hat.

If I had the most powerful electron microscope, I still could not find one iota of interest for an institution that has been on the wrong side of moral history for the most of its existence.

Hopefully a nonsocialist.

I was asking for predictions for who the conclave will pick as the next pope.

I like Tagle. Very much in Francis' mold, which the Catholic Church needs if they're going to survive the 21st Century.

If the Church knows whats good for it, Li Shan will be the next Pope.

And the new pope is an American!

69 year old Robert Prevost - Leo XIV

(I hope Rogers has his Network Solutions page ready to register his name)

From Chicago? Gracie's head must have exploded.

She's gonna start posting weekend death counts from Vatican City.

I wonder if he could see lake Erie from his condo in Chicago.

LZW!

Prediction: MAGA catholics are going to be almost as upset with this one as they were with the last one. They'll be more upset with the Catholic church for letting another one of "those" be pope. There will be talk of founding a "true" Catholic church, kinda like the prosperity evangelicals, but for MAGA. They'll whine, but ultimately just stew and do nothing.

LZK aka Armella.

No threats to kill the new Pope?

Sounds unrealistic.
