Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, May 16, 2025

Former FBI Director James Comey is expected to be escorted by US Secret Service agents to their Washington Field Office on Friday afternoon, according to a law enforcement source. Comey will be interviewed by agents investigating a social media post he posted Thursday showing shells in the sand on a beach spelling out "86 47," which has become a popular social media code for removing Trump from the presidency, according to the law enforcement source. Comey is not in custody and is appearing voluntarily, the source said. It is expected that Comey will be asked if he intended the message as a threat, or to inspire others who might consider an act of violence against Trump, the source said. Ultimately, a decision on whether the case is chargeable as a threat against the president may lie with the US attorney in Washington.

What a stupid waste of resources.

Especially from the people who think using guns to shoot s*&^ in political ads isn't a threat or insinuation of violence but suddenly a common phrase for "get rid of" is a threat...

MAGA is pathetic.

They 100% must set up a perjury trap and toss this piece of ---- in jail. That is what he would be doing so give him a taste of his own medicine. Also, I would assume this would now justify lifetime government surveillance and being put on the no-fly list.

Hare Krishna Sect Cult Member Tulsi Gabbard said "James Comey should be put behind bars for issuing a hit on Trumpf."

The Trumpf junta ruined their own prosecution of James Comey should the case ever come to trial. Defense counsel would argue prejudicial publicity.

In 1970, President Richard Nixon realized he made an an off-the-cuff comment that Charles Manson, the California hippie-cult leader, was guilty, directly or indirectly, of "eight murders without reason."

While Air Force One circled Washington for nearly a half hour Monday night on a flight from Denver, Nixon drafted a statement that declared, "The last thing I would do is prejudice the legal rights of any person, in any circumstances."

Manson's defense attorneys had asked a Los Angeles judge to declare a mistrial, alleging prejudicial publicity. The court denied the initial motion "without prejudice," wanting to make certain what Nixon actually said.

Possibly.

It depends upon how long the Judicial Branch continues to stand up to Pres Trump.

Hi Lamplighter: Possibly is right. There are some attorneys on Drudge Retort who could probably weigh in on this better than me.

There is no "case" and it will never go to trial.

It's all just maga theater and will be OBE by some completely new maga kabuki theater by next week.

MAGA followers might believe it. Plenty are dumb as hell. If a meteor crashed through the orange turd, MAGA leaders would blame it on whomever they want to lock up, and MAGA followers would repeat it because they believe it or because they know they need to repeat the orders from the top in order for the fascist movement to continue

What I believe is what actually matters --- what was fmr Dir Comey's intent with that post.

And, btw, what does your current alias think about the 8646 t-shirts that were widely for sale ...

8646 T-shirts are at a minimum in very poor taste. They could be considered a credible threat if worn by members of certain group. Also they ran out my size.

@#19 ... 8646 T-shirts are at a minimum in very poor taste. ...

Yeah, at a minimum.

James Comey posted the number '86' in reference to Donald Trump. What's the history of the term?
www.politifact.com

... When has the term come up in politics?

Comey said he assumed the shells were a "political message," and he would not be the first person in politics to use the term "86" that way.

"We've now 86'd: McCarthy, McDaniel, McConnell," former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla. posted on X in February 2024, referring to Kevin McCarthy losing his House speakership, Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel leaving her role and Sen. Mitch McConnell announcing he would step down as majority leader after the presidential election. "Better days are ahead for the Republican Party."

In October 2020, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, faced backlash from Republicans after people pointed out a small pin with the numbers "8645" on a table behind her during an interview. (Trump was the 45th president at the time and was running for reelection.)

In January 2022, Jack Posobiec, a conservative activist posted "86 46" on X, referring to former President Joe Biden.

In 2018, a Virginia restaurant asked White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, now Arkansas governor, to leave. According to news reports at the time, restaurant staff wrote "86 " Sarah Huckabee Sanders," in their overnight note.

A search for the term "8647" on Etsy, an online marketplace, shows apparel, stickers and pins with the number. Most of the items include "anti Trump" in the title. Similar results come up on Amazon.

Both sites also sell items with the terms "8646." The terms "patriotic," "protest" and "Impeach Biden" are in the title for those products. ...

So, I ask once again, what has Pres trump done that he wants to deflect attention away from?

James Comey was the director of FBI, entrusted with great power and rewarded with a generous pension. He should be held to a much higher than random citizens.

I do not disagree.

But fmr Dir Comey has also shown an, I'll be kind,' incompetence in using social media.

At this point, I'd proffer that he should stay off social media.

OK, that aside, I've engaged in your current alias' deflections. I even replied to them.

But, at this point ...

I'll ask once again, from my #16 comment ...

... and your current alias knows that was his intent ... how? ...

So far, I've seen, and engaged in, deflection from that simple question.

Yet, now, many posts later, I still have not seen an answer to that question.

So, please allow me to ask it again ...

Posted it on social media.

The intent is in the actions and the meaning of the message.

To claim he didn't have the intent of posting a message about a "hit" on Trump, is under minded by the evidence.

So, I ask the question once again ...

What might Pres Trump be trying to divert attention away from with this apparent stimulation of his base?

Possibly ...

His Middle East trip that resulted in Trump, Inc benefiting greatly, but the benefits of the Country may be grossly overstated?

#30 | Posted by REDIAL at 2025-05-18 11:04 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

The real question is why Comey has decided to be an attention wh0r3. Is it to distract from the facts that inflation is down, the stock market up, job participation is up and peace in the Middle East is a possibility?

@#31 ... The real question is ...

So, that is the line of questioning your current alias seems to want AG Bondi's investigation to pursue?

Not a freedom of speech issue, or possible intent of violence against the President issue.

But more of a political issue.

Why the apparent change of view? from your current alias' #8 ...

... He'll have to lie or admit he was advocating another assassination attempt on Trump . ...

Has the discussion here changed your opinion?

I have not.

I have been consistent in my opinion on this topic.

A Nice Try, though.

Back in my #16 I was questioning the attribution of intent to the image.

But, it is good to see that your current alias now seems to regard this as a minor political issue.

Most likely one raised by Pres Trump to the level that will hide something he wants to hide.

Start with Trump. He has zero moral values. His entire life is little but a series of transactional relationships.

Guess you don't read Trump's Truth Social posts. They're like the rantings of a 15-year-old brat who skipped English classes.

Of are aware of the many indictments he skated from by running for reelection. Or cheating on every wife.

Start there.

I thought this was the Comey thread where we were specifically discussing the immature provocateur trolling of a formerly high ranking representative of the supposedly non-partisan FBI. Behavior reinforcing his illegal and partisan vendetta against the elected government of Trump. He was gifted an illegal pardon by unknown officials wielding the presidential power of the auto-pen.
