Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The Environmental Protection Agency said on Friday that it would eliminate its scientific research arm and begin firing hundreds of chemists, biologists, toxicologists and other scientists, after denying for months that it intended to do so.

Science tells the truth, Donald Trump lies. Firing EPA scientists will mean more pollution, higher energy costs, more cancer, and more lies from Lee Zeldin. EPA scientists protect us from toxics and illness and dirty air and water. Stand up for them because they stand up for you.

I'm surprised the Trump administration hasn't killed the EPA yet.

I keep forgetting it's not the E.P.A. and it's not the FBI and it's not any other US Gov org that's been infiltrated...

It's not even tRump - orange fairy boi is just the stooge.

It's the Heritage Foundation, the architects of Project 2025.

It's Stephen Miller, Kevin Roberts, Russell Vought, and so many more.

While assassinating tRump would bring great satisfaction, the orange weirdo is not the actual problem.

It's the POS pulling his tiny little strings.

Ladies and gentlemen...we are well and truly screwed.

America is "So Stupid"(tm).

It's like 1870 all over Again.

With the same outcome only worse.

Life on the Mississippi...that's what I'm talking about.

"Brisk men, the Dollar their God, how to Get It, their Religion".

America...in one sentence.

Who needs science research when there is an autocrat telling you what to believe?

Of yes, getting rid of this agency should really help us all. Not!

E.P.A. Says It Will Eliminate Its $cientific Research Arm

It's pretty impressive how there are no longer any Republicans who believe in science.

It's only been half a century since Nixon created the EPA.

Now, Republicans want to destroy the EPA.

It only took fifty years for Republicans to do a complete 180 on science and higher education.

Funny how you dips(*&s think everyone else is motivated by greed.

Meanwhile, you enthusiastically support a POTUS whose entire goal is to grift as much as possible and your own stated worldviews center around getting as much as you can as often as you can.

Welcome to the Plan.

The Plan

In the beginning, there was a plan,
And then came the assumptions,
And the assumptions were without form,
And the plan without substance,

And the darkness was upon the face of the workers,
And they spoke among themselves saying,
"It is a crock of ---- and it stinks."

And the workers went unto their Supervisors and said,
"It is a pile of dung, and we cannot live with the smell."

And the Supervisors went unto their Managers saying,
"It is a container of excrement, and it is very strong,
Such that none may abide by it."

And the Managers went unto their Directors saying,
"It is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide by its strength."

And the Directors spoke among themselves saying to one another,
"It contains that which aids plants growth, and it is very strong."

And the Directors went to the Vice Presidents saying unto them,
"It promotes growth, and it is very powerful."

And the Vice Presidents went to the President, saying unto him,
"This new plan will actively promote the growth and vigor
Of the company With very powerful effects."

And the President looked upon the Plan
And saw that it was good,
And the Plan became Policy.

And this, my friend, is how ---- happens.

@#13 ... Industrial polluters can be counted on to self-regulate. ...

You mean, like General Electric's PCBs?

EPA Secures Settlement with General Electric Company to Study the Lower Hudson River (2022)
www.epa.gov

... Under a legal agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) General Electric Company (GE) will investigate the Lower River portion of the Hudson River PCBs Superfund site to determine next steps for addressing contamination.

Under the terms of the legal administrative agreement, GE will immediately develop a plan for extensive water, sediment, and fish sampling between the Troy Dam and the mouth of the New York Harbor. While polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) will be a focus of the data collection in the Lower Hudson River, other contaminants will be evaluated as well.

The new data is needed to determine from a scientific standpoint the best path forward, even in advance of a potential formal set of studies that would be required to develop a plan or plans for cleanup. Today's agreement requires data collection to begin in early 2023. GE will also pay EPA's costs to oversee the work. ...

That was a long, hard-fought battle, which the EPA eventually won to protect citizens.

But under Pres Trump, the EPA seems to be all but giving up, before any battle even starts.

It seems like the EPA is telling industry, ~have your way with our environment, the EPA no longer cares.~

The word "Protection" is disposable in the MAGA EPA.

"It must be misery to awaken to another day of being Donald Trump. ... His childlike ignorance - preserved by a lifetime of single-minded self-promotion - concerning governance and economics guarantees that whenever he must interact with experienced and accomplished people, he is as bewildered as a kindergartner at a seminar on string theory."
