idk at some level I think we are dealing with two extremes.

Push back from the enormous number of vaccines required today vs required in 1986.

THE GOP is being short sighted. The more girl children who die young due to disease means less sex slaves available in their teens.

Science is Too Woke?

The Stupid, it Burns.

When all the childhood diseases come roaring back Americans won't be permitted to visit other countries for health reasons.

America will stew in disease and morbidity.

This somehow seems like a plan the Top .001% came up with.

Get rid of the Useless.

The vaccination rates have dropped to dangerously low levels in Florida. The part of Florida I live in is 10% below what's required for herd immunity. It's going to be one hellova self-inflicted tragedy.

So any school, including private schools, be able to impose a vaccine mandate if they so choose?

#13 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-03 02:37 PM | Reply | Funny: 2

I doubt that. Public schools can't do anything the governor doesn't approve of. Books, sex-ed, dei, equal rights, actual black history, all controlled by the state of florida. I see nothing in any press releases that would allow any public school to require vaccinations and be allowed to go forward with that plan.

Private schools have no requirements at all. Not in education, teacher credentials, food, and the quality of the education they provide does not have to be available. I have no idea if any private school will be allowed to mandate vaccinations.

#14 | Posted by YAV at 2025-09-03 02:49 PM | Reply

if people choose not to get their kids vaccinated, can we put them in a camps and expose them to measles, polio and smallpox and let them die?

It's what they want, right?

The real problem is, Covid wasn't deadly enough.

It's a shame it didn't kill all the deplorable trumping MAGAts.

34% of private schools are catholic. The catholic church and its schools have a tradition of actively promoting vaccination.

You have to find some really wacked out fundamentalist christian private schools to go down that road.

I've known some real weirdo homeschoolers out there who didn't get their kids vaccinated. They benefit from the herd immunity around them.

I always said if they realized suddenly they lost that herd immunity, they'd drop their holier than thou attitude towards vaccinations in a new York minute.

Those folks appreciate the fact vaccinations have been mandated everywhere around them.

Let's see how they like this.

#19 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-03 04:16 PM | Reply | Funny: 2

BTW, Eberly - any records of COVID vaccinations, any requirement for COVID vaccinations were all mandated out of existence for ALL educational institutions in Florida. It was illegal to mandate it. The talk is the GOP legislators in Florida want that expanded to all vaccinations.

Given they've already done it for COVID, I'd bet that they're going to prohibit private schools mandating vaccination as a requirement to attend.

Translation: Florida is an insane asylum run by the sickest of the sick. It now will let Polio back into our country, and other horrible diseases as well.
As a kid in the 1950's I remember the terror that Polio caused parents and the medical world, until the Salk Vaccine came along.

"Push back from the enormous number of vaccines required today vs required in 1986."

Vaccines are no just arbitrarily created. They are developed in response to serious health threats fron viruses. both long time threats and newer threats from viruses never seen before like COVID. Vaccines are only dveloped when a threat becomes so large that it is a serious threat to life. Today we have a laege anti-science movement opposed to vaccines which is basically insane as has been very publicly illustrated by some very unfortunate well known people who were convinced that science was the enemy and who died from preventable illness unnecessarily but thr forces of ignorance are still with us spouting insane conspiracy theories. We have several of these fools posting right here on this site. Ignorance is a prjrst President that embraced and enciuraged itobbeen with us but today we have the flem that has always been wuth us resident who embraces and ebcourages itbut today we have a President who embraces and encourages it.

The biggest risk is for infants. If passive immunity from mom isn't enough or isn't present because the baby isn't breast fed, then they're wide open to diseases that were so detrimental to young children we developed vaccines in the first place.

Look up a video of an infant with whooping cough. It's horrific and unnecessary.

The comment that perfectly encapsulates the sheer stupidity of todays antivax movement was when a prominent antivaxxer statement was:

"What if instead of a vaccine we were just able to get exposed to a weak version of the virus that enabled us to build the antibodies we need to fight the real thing."

Chef's kiss stupidity right there.

After watching the Poop Cruise on Netflix I had already ruled out cruises.

And now there goes any thought of a trip to Disney World with the grandkids. If we ever get another hankering for a Disney fix again now I guess it's Anaheim or the Disney Channel.

The vaccines are there, just not the mandates, so you can get that child vaccinated - your choice.

And this is why ignorance is going to hurt and kill so many. Cluelessness on how vaccinations work.

Generally speaking, you aren't fully immunized with the first shot. Your kids won't be with their first shot for MMR, TDap, etc. Older adults have waning vaccine efficacy. That means kids that aren't yet fully immunized can bring home diseases from kids that aren't vaccinated at all. Those can spread to adults with weaker immune responses.

That's why we call it PUBLIC HEALTH.
