Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Donald Trump loves a bit of American exceptionalism. But here's one accolade that we won't be hearing from the mouth of the president: the US is set to be the only major economy to suffer a decline in tourism spending this year. The verdict comes from the World Travel and Tourism Council ... And while it is just a projection, it isn't exactly out of line with some of the things that we know are happening, with foreign visitors to the States down by 12 per cent year on year.

De Minimis: A Vital Tax Exemption
www.nftc.org

... The NFTC is committed to supporting policies that help U.S.-based businesses reach consumers, navigate complex supply chains and manage rising costs in the global economy. That's why we are working to ensure that the thousands of American small businesses that use a vital, Congressionally supported tax exemption knows as de minimis can maintain access to it. ...

Why did Congress Pass the De Minimis Tax Exemption?

IT REDUCES INFLATIONARY PRESSURE AND SUPPLY CHAIN DELAYS:
The de minimis tax exemption allows goods to be shipped quickly and affordably " benefits every American gained an appreciation for during the pandemic. At a time when our nation's small businesses are continuing to shoulder the pressures of inflation and a slowly recovering supply chain, they cannot afford to be burdened again through the elimination or reduction of the de minimis tax exemption. The last thing lawmakers should be considering coming out of the pandemic is to raise taxes and increase red tape for small businesses.

IT ALLOWS CBP TO CONCENTRATE LIMITED RESOURCES WHERE THEY MAKE THE MOST IMPACT:
Removing de minimis would shift the CPB's focus away from the border, where a vast majority of illegal substances and products are entering the country. CBP would need to hire and train new personnel, costing the agency millions or causing them to move agents from the already overburdened southern border. ...

Tourism is the least of our problems at the moment. That said, with Trump, his running mouth and compliant minions supported by deluded oligarchs and a mob of the truly and violently moronic you can shelve any idea of reviving tourism here for a very long time. The 2026 FIFA World Cup cities? LA for the 2028 Olympics? Dark and disappointing. And with a grotesque worthy of fulltime casting in Ubu Roi waddling around in his ridiculous caps, blathering inanities, threatening everyone who upsets his delicate nature? Fuhgedaboudit.

Nobody wishes to partake in this country anymore. My own wife, who is Latin and an American citizen, did not even wish to visit as she fears nazis grabbing her off the street because she is Latin. We might as well hand over the World Cup to Canada and Mexico as people will not wish to come to this nazi state and as the Olympics go they should take it from us or end up having the equivalent of Hitler's Olympic games where Jesse Owned embarrassed the tar out of his nasty ass. I guess it will remain business as usual where the games end up in places like fascist China and Russia and now the U$$A.

All while we see some major nations doing things to curb tourism and make it more containable.

But let's not let new data impact your bias, amirite?

"My own wife, who is Latin and an American citizen, did not even wish to visit as she fears nazis grabbing her off the street because she is Latin."

Kind of like many people being afraid to use their free speech rights because they are scared liberals are going to cancel their entire lives.

Pick a topic and I can illustrate how it negatively impacts people. But the saddest part overall is how partisan people invoke Godwin's Law to actually equate opinionated stances as being nazi-like. Just because you don't like how something is being governed doesn't mean it's akin to rounding up millions and killing them in atrocious ways. To even suggest as such only illustrates your EXTREEEEEEEEME privilege and entitlement.

Illegal has no weight in that sentence as an immigrant is a person who moves to a new country to take up permanent residence as opposed to a tourist who is a person who is traveling or visiting a place for pleasure.
