I am of a similar, though not as strong, opinion.
As I have mentioned many times here on this most august site that I attended college in NJ. Back in the early 70's.
As such, many of my college friends were from what we called "southern NJ" back then. Of course, compared to the NYC state of mind, places like Asbury Park, NJ are "southern NJ."
But I digress.
Anyway, my friends, back in the early 70's were all agog about this singer/band they have been seeing in local bar/cafes/venues. One of the things they gushed about him was that his concerts went on "for, like, forever," hours as contrasted with the usual 40-60 minute concert of the day.
Looking back, it was Springsteen's long live concerts that really excited his growing fan base.
All that aside...
I applaud Mr Springsteen for writing and releasing this song. He does seem to have an influence, i.e., people listen to his songs, and the meaning of his songs.
Kudos to Mr Springsteen.
