... "The bipartisan White House governors meeting is an important tradition, and we are disappointed in the administration's decision to make it a partisan occasion this year," Brandon Tatum, acting executive director and CEO of the NGA, said in a statement. "To disinvite individual governors to the White House sessions undermines an important opportunity for federal-state collaboration."

"At this moment in our nation's history, it is critical that institutions continue to stand for unity, dignity, and constructive engagement," Tatum added.

"Traditionally the White House has played a role in fostering these moments during NGA's annual meeting. This year, they will not." ...

Democratic govs should schedule their own meeting somewhere in Washington and openly discuss issues that are important to their constituents. Welcome any congress people who are willing to come in and discuss issues without bringing politics into the building. Bring in the press and show them the way government should actually be run instead of the butt kissing that's going to happen at the other guys gathering.

I disagree.

The purpose of of the National Governors Association (NGA) meeting is bipartisan. The Democrats should not contribute to Pres Trump's attempt to destroy its bipartisanship.

I'd proffer that the response of NGA is apropos...

NGA is meeting this year from Feb. 19 to 21.

The NGA said in a Friday email to people involved in planning that the association's leadership has decided the White House meeting will no longer be an association event.

"No NGA resources will be used to support transportation for this activity," according to the email that was obtained by POLITICO. ...

Pres Trump tried to take-over the NGA event at the White House and turn it into one of his toady Cabinet meetings.

NGA is denying him that attempt.

If no Democrats attend this meeting then this is not a National Governors Association meeting.

It just an another meeting of Trumpy's cultists.

Might as well name it after Trumpy. The Trumpy Memorial Meeting. Or better yet.. the Cultists Union of Crazy Kluxers.. or CUCKs.

Because it has nothing to do with our nations governors.

I've reconsidered and agree with #9's post. Inviting the Rep governors will show which are willing to at least make a small effort at keeping the country together. Unfortunately, fear of this admin, would probably show very few (if any) are willing to face the political consequences.

The Annual Governors Meeting will now represent only 1/3 of the US GDP.

That's how sad Red States are.

The GOP guvs should disinvite themselves.
But they won't.
Bent knees, bowed heads, slathered tongues.

@#20 ... Job growth is at record levels? ...

White House sets lower job growth expectations
www.reuters.com

... Hassett said in an interview with CNBC. "So I think that you should expect slightly smaller job numbers that are consistent with high GDP growth right now ... We shouldn't panic if you see a sequence of numbers that are lower than you're used to, because, again, population growth is going down and productivity growth is skyrocketing. It's an unusual set of circumstances." ...

My understanding is that the delayed job report is due for public release on Friday. Has Dir Hassett already seen the report?
