NATO chief says alliance ready to defend every inch of Allied territory' after Russian drone hits member state Romania
www.cnbc.com

... A Russian drone collided with an apartment building in Romania, a NATO member state, early on Friday morning.

Romanian President Nicu'or Dan said in a post on X on Friday morning that he had convened a meeting of his national defense council in response to what he called "the most serious incident to affect the national territory" since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in early 2022.

The collision occurred in Galai, Dan said, a city near Romania's border with Ukraine.

"We will order proportionate measures in relation to the Russian Federation," he said, adding that the strike had resulted in injuries. "The unprecedented nature of the event demands a firm, coordinated, and appropriate response -- at the national, allied, and international levels." ...

From the reporting I have heard, Romania may want to invoke Article 4 of the NATO agreement. But has not yet gone that far ...

Romania asks for NATO support after Russian drone crash
www.politico.eu

... Romania will ask NATO to fast-track air defense deliveries and will also shutter its only Russian consulate after a Russian drone crashed into an apartment building.

"This is an unacceptable and blatant violation of our airspace," Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu told POLITICO. "We have confirmation it is a Russian drone."

Toiu said NATO's top commander, U.S. Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, has "agreed" to previous proposals by Bucharest asking the alliance to shift military equipment to the country. In response to the drone incident, she said Romania will ask to "accelerate" their delivery.

However, she stopped short of saying Bucharest would invoke the alliance's Article 4 provision, which requires alliance members to convene for urgent talks. ...

Hard to deny that Putin, at least in spirit, has been at Trump's side ever since day one, as Trump weakens America massively, dividing us one from another and America from our traditional and powerful allies.

A fire has been set under Europe's ass. With Trump's lack of a coherent NATO policy, they can't count on us.

The only reason WE needed NATO was access to the airbases to keep the Islamic hordes at bay.

Any bases our "allies" denied our use of should be shut down ASAP.

With Trump's lack of a coherent NATO policy, they can't count on us.

With Russia's lack of progress in Ukraine, they might not need to.

One quite irrelevantly wishes for a war for peace, with a reorganized UN, where to belong a country has to belong to the International Criminal Court, where wars of aggression are penalized.
Problem is, there is far more money to be made in ginning up war over peace.

You know something? It makes no difference who I support, or who you support.
Collectively, we do not matter. The Power have developed a libido of their own and no longer need our legs and all that.

Years ago I knew real hillbillies, they came down here to Florida looking for work because of big layoffs in the coal industry up in West Virginia. I made some good friendships with some of them. They were very fine people that I liked and respected!
