... The findings are not particularly surprising: Researchers have repeatedly found that COVID-19 vaccines work. But the paper drew public attention after Trump administration political appointees decided not to run it in a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publication.

They argued that the study's design was too vulnerable to false assumptions that could produce flawed results. But many public health researchers maintain it's a reliable design that's been used for decades and offers the best way to understand how well a vaccine is working currently.

"It is critical that we continue to characterize and publish estimates of vaccine effectiveness in populations with changing immunity against evolving viral strains," wrote Natalie Dean, an Emory University biostatistics expert, in a commentary that accompanied the study's publication Tuesday. ...

"If you get the COVID-19 vaccination you won't

Contract COVID-19
Have to wear a mask
Social distance
Transmit COVID-19"

I've heard this somewhere before....

55% effective against COVID-19-associated hospitalizations

Not bad for a vaccine designed over a weekend!

My opinion is the vaccine definitely kept me out of the hospital. Worst fever I can remember. Kinda like the Pink Floyd song, my hands felt like two balloons, and so did my feet, so I was crawling around my apartment on my knees and elbows, and laughing about it. I lived a block from the hospital but it sure seemed like a long crawl.

It took a weekend to design a COVID-19 vaccine, and why we might not be prepared next time.

Vitamin D allowed even seniors to recover.

Efficacy has never been recorded by CDC or published in US medical journals.

Seniors especially are prone to Vitamin D deficiency. I'd say more often than not.

1. Considering COVID-19 is the disease, not the virus, yes, it did prevent contracting COVID-19.
2 and 3. Biden was dumb when he lifted measures when he did and people with actual knowledge and experience knew it.
4. Several independent studies showed the vaccine did initially reduce transmission of SARS-COV-2 by decreasing titers in the airways, leading to lower doses being transmitted and, thus, decreasing the chance of infection.

You're far to confident in your ignorance.

" I've heard this somewhere before...."

Watch a high-speed backlit sneeze, both with and without an N-95 mask.

Then answer: do symptoms increase with viral load, or not?

You either pass the simple logic test, or fail miserably.

I am sure that at its core, all this antiscience nonsense from Trump and Kennedy is mostly about ginning up energy to take away useful programs for the poor so the rich can keep getting their huge tax cuts.

Malthusian.

The masses outnumber the elites exponentially and we are using up "their" precious resources.

Picture 35 people crammed on a lifeboat in the ocean, dwindling food and water supplies, one oligarch with an armed bodyguard.

Where is ergocalciferol or cholecalciferol in that paper?

There doesn't appear to mention any vitamin D related information.

Can you clarify this?
