Ah, the Blasters. Saw them at the North Park (San Diego) Lion's Club in 1980.
Had no idea the young lady with the page-boy haircut standing next to me was Exene Cervanka.
Until X took the stage.

Good ol' college radio when their first showed up. A relief from the punks that barely knew which end of their instruments to play.

Funny story about Dave Alvin - after the Blasters broke up (brother Phil was the lead singer)
in about '93 or so San Diego had this thing called Street Scene. They'd close down the Gaslamp and have multiple stages playing live music over a weekend.
Anyways, I'm standing there figuring out who to see next when I turn around and it's Dave Alvin!
"Dave Alvin!" I says, and he smiles. "I love The Blasters". He did not smile.

Ah well.

I caught them twice, post Dave. Second time, Smokey Hormel was on guitar and, all I can say is, Phil sure can sing.
First time was with Hollywood Fats and I didn't miss Dave hardly at all. My only time seeing Fats.

Jethro Tull - Nothing Is Easy (Nothing Is Easy - Live At The Isle Of Wight 1970)

www.youtube.com

"In 1970 Jethro Tull played the Isle Of Wight Festival in front of 600,000 people.

Earlier that year they had released their third album, Benefit, which had seen the introduction of a full time keyboard player to the band's line up.

The set was drawn from across the three albums with popular tracks such as My Sunday Feeling, Dharma For One, Boure and Nothing Is Easy and also featured My God, a track that would appear on the following year's classic album Aqualung, probably their most famous release."

I saw some sacred steel live in Central Appalachia about 10 years ago and was mesmerized. At the time the only YT videos were from family gatherings.

Her 1991 performance of The Star Spangled Banner is the best ever, IMO. Moving it to 4/4 time gave her more time to sing the lyrics. Just beautiful ...
