Lucky you. Many of us don't have another passport. But many Americans are applying for foreign passports based on ancestry to Ireland, Italy, or Germany.

I know an American whose mother was a Turkish citizen and so he can apply for their citizenship. But I think he would then either have to serve in the Turkish military or pay a hefty lump-sum "in lieu of military service" fee.

That's what the Gastarbeiter Turks in Germany do.
