Sitzkrieg would have gunned him down with an AR-15, but he's old school.

Let one of the parents do it. You'll find a volunteer.

Not a fan of holding third parties' responsible for the acts of another.

Gifting a gun without more is a stretch.

What's the catch?

The child was 16. Not an adult.

Giving a 16 year old a deadly weapon and not properly supervising him is negligence which became criminal negligence when the child went out and slaughtered and traumatized other children with it.

Especially knowing that their child had mental issues.

I think it's an appropriate verdict and sends the correct message to other parents. Stop being stupid. Lock up your guns folks.

When you know your kid has issues and you're stupid enough to think buying him a weapon like that will straighten him out, you deserve prison.

The semi-automatic rifle was bought for him when he was 14 for his 15th birthday.

Because that's how to compensate for lack of parenting, giving the gift of death.

Perhaps he should shoot his own father rather than others'? A "clear message" to all parents, period.

Gun deserve better people.
