MAGA voters and DSA voters will tell you third party votes are wasted.

Not if a third party wins.

If people are concerned about the future if the US, a third party against these two ideologies should win.

We need to abolish the single lever from the ballot and add a blank line for every position on a ballot.

Its interesting to me, the US democracy is about geographic representation, and not idea representation. Seems like, in this way the British system is better, IMHO.

The 17th amendment makes no sense to me. The Senators came via the State Legislature, not the voters like the House.

The State had input within Congress. It could use its own representative to stop the House, negotiate with the House, and certainly wouldn't pass laws damning the States to Federal servitude.

Never understood why the States surrendered the Senate, especially the smaller States.

It would be like the House of Lords surrendering their authority to a public vote for a commoner.

Before the 17th, industries chose U.S. senators, who were beholden to them, specifically, not the people.

They even had nicknames like Sen. Steel, Sen. Railroads, Sen. Oil, etc etc.

Direct elections gave people the power to choose their senators.
