"The Atlantic said uncertainty over Washington's commitment to NATO has added to security concerns in the Baltics.

Trump has repeatedly discussed the possibility of taking the U.S. out of NATO. During his 2024 campaign, he said Russia could do "whatever the hell they want" to alliance members that failed to meet defense spending expectations.

This year, he threatened to take control of Greenland, a self-governing territory of NATO member Denmark, and later described NATO as a "paper tiger" after European allies declined to participate in his war against Iran.

Former NATO secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg was asked by The Atlantic earlier this year whether he was confident Trump would defend the Baltic states against a Russian attack.

"We base our security on that," Stoltenberg responded."

US Marines deploy to Baltic Sea region for NATO's Baltic Sentry mission

Personnel from the United States Marine Corps are being redirected to the Baltic Sea region as part of NATO's enhanced vigilance activity Baltic Sentry.

The marines will number around 50 and will aid in supporting and protecting critical undersea infrastructure, the Pentagon has announced.

The personnel come from the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

They are to operate alongside Finland's Coastal Brigade, providing advanced expeditionary surveillance and tactical reconnaissance capabilities.

"Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Daniel Shipley, commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa, said the operational design was a premium example of European allies leading regional maritime security while the US provides specialized capabilities.

Our participation in Baltic Sentry demonstrates the dynamic agility of the Marine Corps to rapidly project specialized capabilities where they are most effective," he said.

"Working side by side with our Finnish allies strengthens our collective readiness, ensuring we can operate seamlessly as a cohesive, lethal team to deter hybrid threats in the Baltic littoral."

Well, at least until DJT hears about what Shipley said, when he'll be made part of the 20 percent of Kegsbreath's cuts.

Moldova summons Russian envoy over drone, missile incursions
english.alarabiya.net

... Moldova on Saturday summoned the Russian ambassador after what it said were the latest incursions by missiles and drones into its airspace from the war in neighboring Ukraine.

It was the second time in a few days that Moldova has called in the Russian envoy, as it faces a surge in airspace violations.

For all the latest headlines, follow our Google News channel online or via the app.

Officials said the latest incursion saw five drones and missiles cross into Moldova and explode near settlements, causing some damage but no casualties.

The foreign ministry summoned the Russian ambassador and urged Moscow to prevent such incidents, according to a statement.

Pro-EU President Maia Sandu said the incidents showed Russia's war in Ukraine was "reaching Moldova."

"Moscow is putting lives at risk across Europe and must be stopped," she posted on X.

The government says there have been dozens of incursions this year by Russian and Iranian-made missiles and drones.

It has had to repeatedly close its airspace, and warned the incidents were endangering aviation security. ...

Like a frog in a pot of water slowly being heated to boiling, Pres Putin seems to be slowly raising the level of his attacks against Europe.

The question that lingers out there, like an unclaimed air-biscuit, ... at what point do these ~probes~ spill over to NATO (Moldova is not a NATO member) and at what point does NATO respond?

Reclaiming the former U.S.S.R. states has been a joint Putin/Trump plan since the early days of Trump's grooming to enter politics. Russia has always wanted to get "their man in the White House" and Trump was (and still is) "their man."

Trump's many ongoing anti-NATO attacks should be clear evidence that the Baltic states can expect only perfunctory support from the U.S. President and Russian ally, Donald Trump. At least between now and January 20, 2028.

I have to wonder if that isn't the reason Russia has slipped into overdrive. They can read the U.S. polls, too.

Russia, like the US, is the type of nation foretold by Orwell, in 1984, where perpetual foreign wars, internal constant surveillance, and shadow government always lurking in the shadows are all the people have, will ever have, thanks to the domination of the super rich. Putin is going to go after what used to belong to the Soviet Union, and of course, the US has a government working mightily to separate the US from Mexico and Canada and of course, NATO.

Working in unison to control both the eastern and western hemisphere has been the Master Plan from the beginning. Of course, the election in 2020 set Trump's participation back a few years. That probably the REAL reason Trump worked so hard to overturn the results.

Now, here he is again, facing the same thing in 2028 . . . another big delay or, most likely, a permanent expulsion from power.

I never thought Vladimir Putin was a stupid man. I'm still surprised that he hitched his legacy wagon to a complete dunderhead like Donald Trump ~ a failure at everything he's ever tried to do.

I'll never understand it.

Russia needs another war like the US needs another war.

To be perfectly fair, the Russian performance in Ukraine has been superb when compared to the US performance in Iran.

The Baltic states need the war.

The EuroTrash need to drum up fear about Russia to distract from its economic, energy and demographic collapse.

Why? Why fight for a country importing millions of Muslims (6.6%) that won't be in the military?

Who will they be fighting for? Certainly not Germans.

My guess is that Germany and other supporting NATO nations are being forced to pick up the slack that Trump is weaseling out of thanks to his unholy alliance with Vladimir Putin's expansion plans.

Hopefully that will all come to an end when a new Congress with veto override power is seated in January.

Providing, of course, that Trump and his goons fail to gin up an excuse for Trump to declare a National Emergency to derail the midterms.

My other guess is that ONEIRONAUT is rooting for the goons.

I think ONEIRONAUT would give his other "naut" to be one of Trump's goons.

Age and brain fog takes its toll.

Why are we letting Chinese-communist Russian sympathizers immigrate into this country?

Send him to whatever crap-hole country in Africa that will take him. We're full!

- The Baltic states need the war.

The competition for dumbest poster is now completely sealed.

Those states barely have any military at all, and are dependent on NATO.

Not sure how progressives and libs here traumatized 1Nut into posting whatever stupid narrative that comes into his so-called mind to contradict whatever we are posting, no matter what it is, just so he stands out... but the comic relief is almost worth it.

It wouldn't surprise me if ONEIRONAUT is also a military 4-F. I've seen it before. Judging only from his posts here, he has the character traits.

Thanks for getting this thread back on subject.

I doubt if anybody is going to make any drastic moves until the dust settle after the midterms (literally, not figuratively, if you get my drift) and they know who is in or out of power. Trump is already preemptively losing both houses of congress but it's still a crap shoot.

I anticipate dozens of court cases and hundreds of attorneys eyeballing a new Ferrari.
