It's all tied to the bond market.

Maybe you should ponder why the bond markets are acting the way they are.

Bond markets are reacting to the spending that has occurred in western countries since COVID.

Hahahaha!
I'm sure Trump starting a war with Iran and a trade war with the world isn't a factor.
It's all because of something Biden did.
Six years ago.
That's just now undergoing "price discovery."

When's the last time we built a new refinery?
How many refineries shut down for good since Biden was elected?
Keystone Pipeline, anyone?
Look at the price spread between a barrel of crude and the price of fuel and tell me you're not really retarded.
Trump's escapades in the ME aren't helping things but it's definitely not the only elephant in the living room.

Do you have a link to an article about how the POTUS and our Fed Gov builds refineries? I'd love to see it.

No, but I have a link to how no refinery is built unless the government produces a permit for it.... Would you like to see it?

Still going at it, I see.
Good luck with that.
When your current trolling alias seems to be digging a hole, maybe the better option might not be trying to dig that hole even deeper.
Jus' a suggestion. :)

... Mortgage rates rose for the seventh straight week ...
A concern about this is the rise n the interest rates for US Treasury Bonds.
The 10-year bond seems to be a determining factor for mortgage rates.
That bond is currently well over 5%.
The last time it was approaching this type of level, was the Great Recession of 2008 when consumer borrowing was surging.
Hmmm ...

This was the same chit going on with lending institutions as Nixon was being pushed out of office when the war in Vietnam left us with an economic crash that Carter was blamed for.

Let's be honest with each other. Trump is the problem. He is a disaster.
