Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Halloween is the season for haunted houses, campfire ghost stories, and manufactured frights. In politics, however, one of the scariest stories is told year-round. The perennial bogeyman? The all-powerful corporate behemoth allegedly buying elections and haunting our democracy. We are told that, unless the government takes radical measures, shadowy corporate titans will devour our civic life whole.

Bellboy still obfuscating for the Oligarchy; posting articles by radical rwing Fascists:

"Core Mission and Focus

Campaign Finance: Founded in 2005 by former Federal Election Commission (FEC) Chairman Bradley A. Smith (R), IFS regularly opposes campaign contribution limits, disclosure requirements, and regulations on political spending (including co-counseling the landmark SpeechNow.org v. You use the word "pedo" a lot. Did you move to Scandanavia because neighborhood watch was coming after you?

Did you move to Scandanavia

I don't think he did.

You use the word "pedo" a lot.

You support pedos a lot.

So the word gets used a lot.

Own it. Pedoringer

You typed that with one hand. The other was doing prep work at the gl*ry hole as you were chewing gum to loosen up.

Private money is corrupting elections.

Time to end citizens united. Money is not speech.

#8 | Posted by Nixon at 2026-11-02 08:18 AM | Reply

I'll be interested in seeing how the money flowed this election cycle.

Where it came from, how much, etc.

#9 | Posted by eberly at 2026-11-02 09:31 AM | Reply

Also.. How much dark money is being used to manipulate prediction markets.

wow....I hadn't thought of that. Absolutely......can't wait to see that.

There is a direct quid pro quo when Musk et al bribe a politician for specific returns on their investments; they get Gov Contracts and favorable Laws pr other favors written for what are vast minority interests.

This is not the same as Joe Voter giving 20 bucks at the office.

That one has to point this out to Trumpers is... disturbing at best.

#12 | Posted by Corky at 2026-11-02 11:04 AM | Reply

That one believes they are pointing out something that's already obvious is......well, pretty silly.

but harmless......enjoy your silliness and complete lack of relevance.

- something that's already obvious

Not to your Trumper friends whom you obfuscate for here.

- silliness and complete lack of relevance.

That looks really good on your tshirt!

slapping you around isn't obfuscating for anyone else.

Yet another obvious reality you run around shouting as though you know something others don't.

- slapping you around

At least you have a good imagination!

- as though you know something others don't.

I, and many others here, know that there is a yuge difference between when Oligarchs bribe politicians with millions and when voters donate small amounts.

What's obvious is that the OP is posting nonsense put forth by Admin lackies that this major difference is a, "bogeyman'.

Which you apparently can't grok.

1Butt is the obvious fraud here.

Bev pointlessly points out that, 'everyone knows', when as I pointed out the OP and the article obviously makes the opposite point; that corporate money is no big deal.

#22 | Posted by Corky at 2026-11-02 12:57 PM | Reply

The article distinguishes between corporate money and large individual donated money.

Elon Musk vs SpaceX for example.

Corporate money isn't a significant %......unlike what folks like Musk individually give......that's the premise of the article.

You saw that, right?

Or are you declaring the small % reported in the article as false? Fine....I'm not standing behind it anyway. Go chase down the accurate number if you think it's false.

But that would take time away from you whining about another poster here.

Which is all you'll ever do.

#23 | Posted by eberly at 2026-11-02 01:16 PM | Reply

FTA....

"But the monster they chase is nothing more than a phantom. Publicly traded corporations account for a mere 1-2% of all political spending."

It's not saying there isn't a boogyman, rather it's not found there.

#24 | Posted by eberly at 2026-11-02 01:18 PM | Reply

- the premise of the article.

Is a distinction with no difference to the FACT that that smaller percentage amount speaks much larger volumes with politicians who then do whatever the donor/briber wants them to do... while ignoring whatever Joe Blow voter wants.

See as just one example DJT's promise to the Oil magnates that their million dollar bribes would buy them billions in profits... which it has.

"Is a distinction with no difference"

At least you caught up to that. Which is what I was helping you do.

you're welcome

"politicians who then do whatever the donor/briber wants them to do... while ignoring whatever Joe Blow voter wants."

I'll ask you outright this question.......do you actually believe that? Those are your words so I'm assuming you think you mean it.....but do you?

#26 | Posted by eberly at 2026-11-02 01:36 PM | Reply

= what I was helping you do.

Hilarious! You must be 6' 10" in your imagination.

As I said, the OP and the Trumpers here don't think it's obvious... and your view from the Fence is as pathetically lame as usual.

So , no more political books. No more news articles about politics and politicians. No more political documentaries. Hell, it takes money to print pamphlets and distribute them on a street corner.

Have you even given this a modicum of thought?

Still the Psychic, eh, Bev?

Telling people here what they think because you have no argument to what they say... is pretty funny, really.

"Money is not speech."

How about we distinguish between Free Speech and Paid Speech?

#32 | Posted by Danforth at 2026-11-02 02:38 PM | Reply

-Telling people here what they think

more specifically, I'm telling you what you don't really believe.

You believe some politicians take large sums of money from donors/bribers and yet.....will instead ignore them and do what Joe Blow voter wants.

IOW, you're lying through your false teeth about it.

And.....you're dusting off your favorite quote that only gets used when democrats have some power.

Here is my Psychic abilities at work..........guess what quote that is.

Come on.......you're going to start using it very soon once dems take over congress.

Let's have it............

I'm not paying the Fiddy Cents for THAT pseudo-Psychic Reading.

As I noted, it's just your way of saying you have no actual argument.
