Who is running the country right now?

The powers that be have sent President Joe Biden on vacation to California for the remaining days of the Democratic National Convention (DNC). He is currently tucked away on a five-day vacation at the estate of a billionaire Democrat donor. His schedule over the past two days has been entirely empty. Last week, President Biden was on vacation to Camp David. The week before, he was on vacation in Delaware. Ever since he was effectively forced to surrender the Democratic nomination to Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden has been missing in action. Sure, before that, he was barely functional, but Biden's schedule has now reached new levels of absurdity. Yet it looks like this is the game plan for his handlers for the next 151 days until Inauguration Day 2025 arrives. So who exactly is running the country? Nobody outside of the upper echelons of the Washington D.C. political elite seems to know.

Did you study American government in elementary school? The president is in charge. That is Biden until he leaves office.

I know that it probably pains you to hear that (just as it pained me to have a treasonous soon-to-be convicted felon and admitted sexual abuser in office when Trump was in office), but that's the way it works. Three out of four senile, dementia-ridden second-term Ronald Reagans agree!

#5. I understand how our civic process is supposed to work. Biden clearly is NOT calling the shots and making the decisions and probably hasn't been since he was inaugurated. It's Edith 2.0 although I don't think Dr Jill has been in charge either.

Says you. If you can prove that, you should contact your reps to have him impeached, tried, and removed him from office. Because that's the way it works.

You don't see that happening and it disappoints you? Well, now you know how most Americans felt when they saw the GOP let Trump skate for his impeachments for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress (Impeachment number 1) and incitement of insurrection (Impeachment number 2).

Or when Reagan remained in office after selling arms to our enemies in violation of federal law and clearly being off his rocker for his last two years (?).

We learned in the Reagan era that it doesn't even matter if the president sleeps through Cabinet meetings and fails to notice an international criminal conspiracy operating out of the White House basement.

Joe Biden is too old at this point, as is Trump. In the event of 25th Amendment invocation (which isn't going happen) or the death of the president, we will have President Harris anyway at least for several weeks.
