Musk: I'm 'Looking for the Gold at Fort Knox'

Elon Musk said the famous gold repository is on his radar. "Looking for the gold at Fort Knox," he tweeted, above a meme captioned, "annnnd it's gone." Musk also shared a post from GOP Sen. Mike Lee, who said he was refused permission to visit the military facility. Of the gold, maybe "it's there, maybe it's not," wrote Musk. "That gold is owned by the American public! We want to know if it's still there."

More

Trump on DOGE: We're going to go into Fort Knox to make sure the gold is still there. You know that? We're going to go into Fort Knox. You know about that? We hope everything is fine with Fort Knox. But we're going to go to Fort Knox and make sure the gold is still there.

There is no limit to Felon Musk's megalomania. Ultra-oligarch Musk sees America's resources as his personal playthings. How did America get to this terrible point in history?

Why would Musk make such a statement when according to the White House he does not run any government agency?

#3 | Posted by johnny_hotsauce at 2025-02-19 09:19 AM

There have been a grand total of 3 "visitors" who have inspected the vault at Fort Knox. FDR was the first one.

Everyone knows it's in the Federal Reserve in NYC. Duh.

Musk is just trying to distract us with a shiny object.

Because he knows how easily we are distracted by shiny objects.

And of course he wouldn't take any for himself if he got access to it.

Of course not. Unthinkable.

Except I can't quit thinking it.

#6 | Posted by donnerboy at 2025-02-20 09:49 AM

Once Musk sees the gold, will he need to sniff it? Lick it?

Take it all home with him so it doesn't run away?

Seem like an odd job...

Easy to see why Dems always lose. They will keep losing too. They have no sense - common or otherwise.

They are content with allowing insiders to steal what belongs to taxpayers. What fool allows insiders to have unfettered access to the gold while the Dems say that's the way we want it. Then mock those who want ongoing audits and accountability.

It's easier to see why everyone thinks you're an idiotbot.

It's public knowledge, for those ego both can and will read, that most of the federal good reserve has been in vaults in New York (the financial center of the country) since the 70s. Musk is just a moron.

Musk wants to take the gold. It's fuel for his alien spaceship. I saw it on the interwebz.

#13 | Posted by Whatsleft at 2025-02-20 01:05 PM

^^^Honestly, if that were true, I'd say we should let him have it.

#14 | Posted by Whatsleft at 2025-02-20 01:06 PM

No problem with an outside audit as for decades have heard many question as to just how much gold is actually there.

#15 | Posted by MSgt at 2025-02-20 02:03 PM

#9 this stupid pile of s^%* is crafting an entire narrative based on nothing more than assertions from Trump and musk. Not a shred of evidence is needed or requested.

The Fort Knox depository has only opened its doors to non-authorized personnel on three occasions: In 1943 for President Franklin D. Roosevelt, in 1974 for 10 Congress members to break down "cobwebs" to "re-assur[e] the public that their gold is intact and safe" and in 2017 for a delegation including Sen. Mitch McConnell, R. Ky., and then-Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. "It is freakishly well secured," then-Gov. Matt Bevin, R. Ky., said after visiting the Fort Knox depository in 2017. "The gold is safe," Bevin added.

Treasury secretary pays visit to Fort Knox gold

Steven Mnuchin's Aug. 21 visit to the gold vaults of the Fort Knox Gold Bullion Depository in Kentucky was the first by a Treasury secretary in 69 years. It had been more than four decades since a senior Treasury Department official inspected the bulk of the nation's gold reserves.

U.S. Mint Director Mary Brooks led a contingent of congressional representatives and journalists on Sept. 23, 1974, to take inventory of the nation's gold reserves amid concerns some of the gold may be missing.

A subsequent audit accounted for all of the gold, with none recorded missing.

Mnuchin tweeted a message from his Twitter account, "Thanks to @usmintstaff for hosting at#FortKnox#USBD. First@USTreasury Secretary to visit since John Snyder in 1948. Glad gold is safe!"

Mnuchin was accompanied on his Aug. 21, 2017, inspection tour of the gold reserves at Fort Knox by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.; U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie, R-Ky.; and Kentucky's Republican governor, Matt Bevin.

In an interview, McConnell said he could not say much about the visit for security reasons. But Bevin, speaking on WHAS radio, divulged a few more details. He said it took "quite a bit of time" to get in and out of the facility, and said officials had to cut a seal to open the vault for them.

In addition to the gold bricks, Bevin said he got to hold a 1933 double eagle, a $20 gold coin that was never circulated. Bevin, who said he collected coins as a child, compared it to "seeing a leprechaun on a unicorn."

"All I will say is that it is freakishly well secured," he said. "The gold is safe."

I feel like we, the American people, needed an unelected, morally corrupt, South African to go look at the Gold in Fort Knox in order to make sure movies that depict Fort Knox as having gold, are accurate.

I mean, if anyone's gonna do it, it might as well be the person who helped Trump win election. Literally.

When was the last time Fort Knox was audited?

Perhaps DOGE isn't the right organization to perform an audit on our gold reserves but I don't think an audit is out of line. At all.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says there is an audit every year and that "all the gold is present and accounted for." The United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox has stored precious metal bullion reserves for the United States since 1937 and has become synonymous for secure and well protected.2 hours ago

My guess is if they say "all gold is present and accounted for", is that it isn't.

Just sayin

Sad.
