Couple Deported After Living in U.S. for 35 Years

An Orange County couple that came to the United States without authorization some 35 years ago, raised three daughters and now have a new grandson were deported to Colombia earlier this week, according to media reports.

More

This is horrifying. This couple came from Colombia to California 35 years ago. They've reported regularly to ICE--and then suddenly, on February 21, they were arrested, handcuffed, and sent out-of-state, with no notice to their family. No one is safe under fascism. Free Gladys & Nelson Gonzalez.

So, this couple had 35 years to attain legal status and never bothered to do so? Deport them and then slap on a permanent ban. I really don't care that they ---- out 3 anchor babies while residing here illegally.

From the article: ""They were put into handcuffs by their wrists and ankles and treated as criminals"

Yeah, because THEY ARE CRIMINALS.

The only follow up we need now is to find the employers of these 2 people for the last 35 years and toss them in jail for hiring illegals.

If you're gonna deport them then wait until they are closer to retirement and eligible to draw SS. Not before.

The fugitive slave was considered a criminal back during the first 60 years of this oh-so great nation's history: 1790s-1850s. Not only was the fugitive slave a criminal, but the people of conscience who harbored him in their churches and homes and schools- what we now commonly know as the underground railroad.

That manifestation of humanity and empathy was criminalized for many, many years during the era of the founding fathers and their immediate descendants and it took a violent civil war where many racist white men had to die in agonizing pain in order to undo that terrible nation-wide shame.

Criminals should be handcuffed - that is normal so I have not sympathy. For Roger Stone, they sent an armed SWAT team and invited CNN to try to embarrass him. I am outraged at the waste in money when they could have just ordered him to turn himself over to the court. But, as you stated, the cruelty was the point. You just rub your hands gleefully when it is done to the GOP and cry like a bitch when it is down to the Dems.

#21 | Posted by ScottS at 2025-03-20 08:54 PM

For the record.

America is grabbing innocent people out of their homes, dragging them in chains to a plane and shipping them to El Salvador where they are tortured and put in a dystopian prison, without ANY chance of legal review.

This is who America is today.

Unlike you, you feel Roger Stone was set up, deserved a pardon, now you want revenge.

And unlike Roger Stone, these people are nobody in particular.

And the only thing I could really have any opinion on, is how we conduct the business of hastening their departure.

Apparently they rounded up a professional soccer player who had a St Mateo (??) tattoo

That just happens to be the soccer team he plays for (tattoo had a soccer ball in it)

And he posted on social media a selfie of himself with the "horns" signal???? Deaf people call it the I Love You sign.

That is it.

That is ALL it took for him to be deported for being a venezuelan gang member

In jail? No, they are not. The parent is jailed and split up from the family if they commit a crime. You just want a special case here for illegals.

"Since you support this policy, tell us, what purpose is served by sending the family members to separate detention facilities?"

Because the illegals tend to rape kids and girls. This is for their own safety.

#58 | Posted by YAV at 2025-03-20 09:37 PM

"By keeping US taxpayer money for the benefit of US citizens, it strengthens the country."

That's ridiculously narrow minded.

There are all kinds of ways the Untied States spends taxpayer dollars overseas, or even on non-citizens here, that strengthen the country. How much of the United States economy do you think is, or rather, was, based on foreign tourism? It's right around 2.5 trillion dollars. Just under nine percent of GDP. What Trump is doing to non-citizens in this country will cause those numbers to go into free-fall.

The government used to spend a few bucks there and make those tourism businesses more profitable, by making it easier for foreigners to come here for vacations. And that's the kind of thing any idiot understands government is there to do.

You don't have any sort of substance to your fluff. Just anger, but over nothing. I wouldn't be surprised to learn you tried to do what you do here on right-wing sites, but from the other side, and they always just ban you after three posts.

Done.

Given the fact that there are no statistics, in any sanctuary city with regards to immigration status, (its on purpose, thats the point of a sanctuary city) you just can't make this claim with any seriousness.

That is not up to debate.

Spoken like a true liar.

Families get separated over what essentially is a parking ticket?

Its a felony to cross the border without authorization. idk where you live but a parking ticket isn't a federal felony.
Under federal law, "immigrants" who enter the US without authorization are subject not only to civil immigration detention and deportation proceedings but also to criminal sanctions.

Elon Musk on empathy: "The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy. The empathy exploit. They're exploiting a bug in Western civilization, which is the empathy response. So, I think, you know, empathy is good, but you need to think it through and not just be programmed like a robot."
https:
//substack.com/@marypezzulo/p-158894226

In The Cross Section, Paul Waldman notes that the point of the right wing's dehumanization of political opponents is to dismiss the pain they are inflicting. If the majority of Americans are not really human, toying with their lives isn't important--maybe it's even LOL funny to pretend to take a chainsaw to the programs on which people depend. "We are ants, or even less," Waldman writes, "bits of programming to be moved around at Elon's whim. Only he and the people who aspire to be like him are actors, decision-makers, molding the world to conform to their bold interplanetary vision."

As Waldman notes, Musk and his team of tech bros at the Department of Government Efficiency are not actually promoting efficiency: if they were, they would have brought auditors and would be working with the inspectors general that Trump fired and the Government Accountability Office that is already in place to streamline government. Rather than looking for efficiency, they are simply working to zero out the government that works for ordinary people, turning it instead to enabling them to consolidate wealth and power.

Living in the Shadows eventually bites one on the Tuchus.

35 years to get their paperwork in order. Many of those years with Democratic control of government.

This is a tragedy for them. It could have been avoided.

"Why do Democrats always have sympathy for ... "

When did empathy become a crime? When did caring for your neighbors become scaring your neighbor? You should have sympathy for all the humans who are subject to the human condition. Unfortunately for all of us you and your fellow maga maroons are broken. There is something wrong with you when you can no longer feel or even care about the pain and suffering of your fellow Man. There is something wrong with you if you think being aware (woke) is a bad thing. There's something broken inside you if you are afraid of something so fundamental as Equality Diversity and Inclusion.

We are ALL cut down in our prime. Mowed like grass on the lawn when we just start reaching our dreams. We just get going with our lives and poof it is over. In the meantime we shuffle around like beasts scratching at the dirt and shoving against each other just trying to get our share of the Dream. And now we are going to make matters even worse by turning on each other like rats in a cage and turning anyone less fortunate in life or not like us into "The Other".

"Kill all Others" was not just an episode from Electric Dreams. It was a warning.

And now it's becoming our new reality. You would be so proud! If you had a caring bone in your body. (If you have a body Robotson. )

"When did empathy become a crime?"

------

MAGA has declared a war on empathy for awhile now, under the guise of WOKE. Elon Musk's recent quote:

"The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy."

Oops! He let the big secret out! Her's supposed to say WOKE, not EMPATHY!!!

Here's a soft opinion piece th
at gets to the crux of it:
