UK Supreme Court rules “Trans women” are not women

LONDON " Britain's Supreme Court has ruled that the legal definition of a woman is someone born biologically female. Wednesday's ruling is the culmination of a long-running legal battle that began in Scotland in 2018. But it has big implications for transgender people across the United Kingdom " at a time when similar legal challenges are underway in the United States after President Trump banned transgender people from military service. What does the ruling say? The court's five judges issued an 88-page judgment. In it, they say the "concept of sex is binary, a person is either a woman or a man."

Well that's just sloppy. In two ways.

The sexes are Male and Female, not Man and Woman.

And while the concept of sex is binary, sometimes nature blues those lines.

The "concept" of sex, ontologically speaking, is a model, based on an organism's chromosomal content.

Biology is replete with examples where the model fails, but that does not render the concept useless. But it does mean the model is not applicable to every circumstance.

To obtain a certificate, applicants must demonstrate a "good reason" for ownership and be assessed as not posing a threat to public safety.

So according to your logic we should accept "The Firearms Act 1968" as definitive and resolved?

On May 10, 2016 I posted in response to a transgender news story revolving around a girl in a high school, Gavin Grimm, who wanted to use the boys restroom and was banned. Around 2016, the issue of transgender students and bathroom access exploded into a national controversy, largely due to political and legal battles sparked by high-profile cases and government actions. That was essentally when the word "transgender" entered the vernacular of straights who really knew nothing or even cared about the subject.

Where this transgender thing is going.
Here's what I see happening in the future.
The rights of millions of women to their privacy will ultimately win out and transgendered people will have to use either their "natural" bathroom or a single occupancy unisex facility. After all is said and done, transgendered people will rue the day their cause was picked up by the gay rights movement. (gay rights and transgender issues are not that connected...if you look at the big picture)
Transgendered people will be forced to obey new laws when they could have simply used the opposite facility quietly without a lot of drama before the gay rights people decided a few teenage kids who aren't old or experienced enough to make such a decision were pushed along by adults with an agenda.
Straight people will eventually say enough is enough.
Invading the privacy of women is insanity.
Liberals are the new definition of "rebels without a cause".
They're desperate to remain relevant.

While the Fourth Circuit ruled in favor of the student based on Obama administration policy related to Title IX protections, the election of Donald Trump changed the underlying policy. A pending hearing before the Supreme Court of the United States was vacated and the case was sent back to the Fourth Circuit.

Due to recent case law, including the Supreme Court decision in Bostock v. Clayton County, the Fourth Circuit ruled again in favor of the student; the Supreme Court refused to hear the case by denying certiorari in 2021, allowing the Fourth Circuit's judgment to stand.
