Now That They're Free

Now that he's free, Leonardo José Colmenares Solórzano, a 31-year-old Venezuelan, wants the world to know that he was tortured over four months in a Salvadoran prison. He said guards stomped on his hands, poured filthy water into his ears and threatened to beat him if he didn't kneel alongside other inmates and lick their backs.

75% of the 238 Venezuelans deported on March 15 have no criminal record in the United States or abroad.
Of those who do have criminal records, most are for relatively minor crimes such as shoplifting and trespassing.
Only 10% have felony convictions.

I didn't read all the stories but the first one was in the country illegally which I assume means he can be legally deported but was the due process followed? I'm guessing no.....

I would truly like to see these guys get their day in court but I have no idea if that's possible.

Like previous cases in history, they will likely have to wait 50-100 years for there to be a formal apology (with no compensation).

Employers are obligated to collect information proving that the person applying for the job has the right to work in the US and will pay payroll taxes on their behalf.

No one else is required to check the resident status of someone.

The first is like a John hiring a prostitute. The second is like the prostitute buying a pack of cigarettes at the corner store.
