Officials on Friday released surveillance footage showing the moments just before the deadly stabbing of a 23-year-old woman on a Charlotte, North Carolina, light rail last month, prompting new calls for safety on public transit. The video, released by the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), shows Iryna Zarutska, a Ukranian refugee, get on the light rail and sit in front of 34-year-old suspect Decarlos Brown Jr. for several minutes before the fatal incident. Brown Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder, according to a press release issued by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) in August.
I never said that.

Trump Has Pledged to Deport Some Legal Immigrants. Could He Do That?
Published Sep 30, 2024
www.newsweek.com
After promising mass deportations of illegal immigrants, former President Donald Trump is now vowing to come for those admitted into the United States under programs established to protect migrants from certain countries.
Trump has said he would force the million-plus people who arrived under Humanitarian Parole, or were allowed to stay in the U.S. through Temporary Protected Status (TPS), to leave if he wins a second term.
"Get ready to leave because you're going to be going out real fast," the Republican presidential candidate told Fox News last week.

Trump's mass deportation plans hit riskier phase with legal immigrants, court fights
www.politico.com
Trump spent his first weeks in office emphasizing a mass deportation campaign aimed at criminals who are in the country illegally.
But late last week, immigration agents arrested a Lebanese doctor on a legal visa, despite a court order temporarily blocking her immediate removal. That followed the detention of German tourists, a former Columbia University graduate student with a green card and multiple immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens or have long lived in the United States.
Boaz, you voted for this too.
Don't be shy.
This is exactly what you want.
Grandmother held by ICE over $25 bad check from 10 years ago: 'This is wrong'
www.kcbd.com
LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV/Gray News) " A grandmother in Missouri who has been in the United States for nearly 50 years is being held by ICE and faces deportation to Ireland.
...
Ten years ago, Donna wrote a bad check, charging documents say, for $25. She paid it back and got probation.
But Brown says the U.S. government is suddenly arguing that was a "crime of moral turpitude."
The U.S. government says that's a term used in the immigration context that has no statutory definition, but courts have held that moral turpitude "refers generally to conduct that shocks the public conscience as being inherently base, vile or depraved, contrary to the rules of morality."
