Law enforcement trains you over and over again how to recognize a potentially life-threatening situation. There are very specific rules for when it's appropriate to deploy lethal force, and we've spent decades introducing new safeguards at the federal, state, and local level aimed at trying to ensure that "bad shoots" become less common. When they do happen, there are policies in place to help ensure irresponsible cops are held accountable.

Compare that to the reality we are now witnessing: Trump has encouraged his federal agents to act like an occupying force. In the bluntest possible terms, he has encouraged them to use maximum force against citizens, and has promised they will be shielded from any consequences for doing so.

From what I saw in the videos, the ICE agent was not fully focused upon who and why he was shooting.

His attention looked to be split between using his cell phone in one hand, with his gun in the other hand.

Did his training say it was be OK to shoot someone three times with one hand while using a cell phone in the other hand?


Where was his focus of attention?

I remember meeting a guy through a friend who was in an "Anti-Crime" unit with the Franklin, TN PD. Four of them rode around, harassing anyone they wanted to, stopping anyone for anything.

During a conversation, he told me he'd formerly been a mafia enforcer in Detroit. That's how I instantly put 2 and 2 together and figured out what his PD unit was all about:

Thugs with badges. And no doubt some "lost" money taken from drug dealers too.

Most of the NYPD cops (and other locations) I knew were OK and many never used their firearms unless it was at the range.

One NYPD cop was forced to shoot a suspect and he kept yelling at him:

"Why'd you make me shoot you?"

He was glad that he only wounded the suspect in the leg and he felt awful about it years later.

But another cop I stopped drinking with (for good reason) used to "roust fellas on the street."

I believe she panicked and definitely wasn't intending to hit the agent. She was yelled at to get out of the car meaning she would be taken into custody.

There's one thing I do know. I watch lots of arrest videos and police never go in front of a car. Even when it's in park and shut off.

Perfect example of left wing disinformation. One says she was ordered to get out of the car and the other says she was ordered to drive away. Get it together, there are left wing talking points that you can access.

And btw, she was there all day harassing the agents, then her wife was outside the car egging her on and harassing the agents. She was on video saying it was her fault that she told Good to do it.

The ICE agents absolutely knew this woman and her wife. She was being arrested for interfering with their work and was told to get out of the car. Her wife egged her on telling her "drive baby!" "drive baby!"

Whatever Good's motive was isn't the issue. The issue is she put a federal agent in harm's path when she hit that accelerator.

She should've got a picket sign and walked the sidewalk. She'd still be alive.

Years ago, the ten-week GS-1811 Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) at FLETC (and the old INS Immigration Agent series course) didn't emphasize traffic stops, even though we had a few days of it (how to approach a vehicle, remove an uncompliant suspect, but that was minimal). Deliberate raid training and house clearing was stressed, not ad hoc hasty traffic checkpoints.

In this madness, clever federal agents would employ the experts at traffic stops and DWI checkpoints-- the local police.

Local and state police are more trained and experienced and have the right tools: orange traffic cones, spotlights, and heavy patrol cars.

Once the local police have channelized vehicles into a single lane at a checkpoint, the federal agent would then ask the driver for proof of citizenship or residency. If cleared, the agent tells the the police officer who takes over with instructions for the driver.

"Please go straight on, Ma'am." And he visibly signals "OK" for all to see.

If not cleared, the agent tells the officer to pull them over.

"Please pull to the side here, Sir." And he visibly signals "86-er" for all to see.

These ad hoc teams of ICE agents who never worked together before or conducted rehearsals are why these stupid senseless tragedies happen. Plus the lack of quality personnel.
