... Coria, southeast regional administrator for the Labor Department's Wage and Hour Division, described an environment that he says caused anxiety among his investigators who witnessed children as young as 14 working late at night at the 24-hour manufacturing facility amid power-driven equipment that was being moved around the plant.

Pott, the general counsel for Tuff Torq's majority owner, said the child workers were temporary and were not hired directly by Tuff Torq. He said they used fake names and false credentials to obtain jobs through a temporary staffing agency, and said Tuff Torq is "transitioning" away from doing business with the staffing company. ...

So... the ole, ~it wasn't us, it was the staffing company~ excuse? I'd think that, by now, the company would have heard that lame excuse so often that they would be aware of using a staffing company to hire kids.

To a different staffing company that does the same thing?

Why does the Biden administration tolerate exploiting children for labor? I guess his exploitation of the Southern Border is paying off...

Must be Trump's fault.

I guess he wasn't in the mood to sperate them from their families forever in a cage where they aren't being properly cared for.

"(Biden's) exploitation of the Southern Border ... "

What a riot.

A deal was in place, admittedly better than Republicans could ever HOPE for under Trump, and Trump demanded it be scuttled, and it was ... so Trump could exploit it.

In the real world, that makes Trump the one responsible.

#9. Your spin is risible.

1.8 million allowed in per year is somehow "the best Republicans could ever hope for."

So let's just ignore all of Biden's EO's and EA's at the beginning of his term and his lack of enforcement decisions that have made the border far more porous. Further, let's ignore a bill that PASSED the House that actually strengthened enforcement measures that is still collecting dust on Schumer's desk. But Trump through shade on a terrible bill that had it passed would have been DOA in the House before Trump even opened his mouth.

Record setting illegal immigration is a policy that those who you enable openly promote.

Republicans kill border bill in a sign of Trump's strength and McConnell's waning influence (February 2024)
www.nbcnews.com

... Within 48 hours of the release of a long-awaited immigration and foreign aid bill he had championed, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's Republican conference rejected his pitch to support it, knifed the deal and left it for dead.

Just four Republicans voted for it. In the end, even McConnell backtracked and voted against the package that he had helped develop.

It was a jarring moment on Capitol Hill that pointed to a changed landscape: The Kentucky Republican, a one-man power center for more than a decade, is seeing his influence with fellow senators wane as his party continues to transform into the right-wing populist mold of Donald Trump. The former president, who fiercely opposed the border deal and has long pushed fellow Republicans to turn away from McConnell, is cruising to a third consecutive GOP presidential nomination. ...

GOP senators seethe as Trump blows up delicate immigration compromise
www.cnn.com

... Senior Senate Republicans are furious that Donald Trump may have killed an emerging bipartisan deal over the southern border, depriving them of a key legislative achievement on a pressing national priority and offering a preview of what's to come with Trump as their likely presidential nominee.

In recent weeks, Trump has been lobbying Republicans both in private conversations and in public statements on social media to oppose the border compromise being delicately hashed out in the Senate, according to GOP sources familiar with the conversations -- in part because he wants to campaign on the issue this November and doesn't want President Joe Biden to score a victory in an area where he is politically vulnerable. ...

The ONLY reason anyone was deported is because his border policy backfired in his face and Americans began holding him accountable. That's not even touching the fact that as long as it's Biden doing the deporting, its fine. When Trump did it you soiled your g-string.

I asked, "Got numbers and facts?" I asked that in reference to your current alias' comment that "That's not even touching the fact that as long as it's Biden doing the deporting, its fine. When Trump did it you soiled your g-string."

And your current alias replies with a link that seems to supply neither.

Is your current alias' argument so weak that it is apparently unable to provide any manner of substantiation for it?

While, such a position would not appear to be a change from prior positions it has held, often vociferously, here on this most august site, maybe it is time for your current alias (or the troll farm that may be behind it) to step up.

This thread is perfectly encapsulating the problem with this topic.

Squabbling about partisan blame games while ignoring the decades long corporate flouting of labor laws that draws them here to begin with is THE problem.

Can't wait for Trump to start his deportations and listening to MAGA morons whine about yet another set of problems they've created-higher prices, slower production/service and unfulfilled contracts/orders that will send ripples through the economy. I'm sure it will be the Dems and immigrant's fault somehow because if MAGA has one thing it's a complete inability to realize everything they touch turns to s^%*.

What these clowns denouncing Democrats don't understand is that this is what GOP donors want. They are wealthy and own companies. They want cheep illegal labor. They want to replace them with immigrants because the immigrants are there to work and make a living. Do you HONESTLY think anyone hiring these children didn't know they were VERY young? They had supervisors at the plant. They were either happy to put them to work 14 or not or told not to ask questions and didn't.

Repbulicans are double dipping. They are making money off the back of these people based on their status and keeping an issue alive that garners them votes. That said Democrats won't bring up a real plan that is actually to the benefit of most because it WILL cost them votes.
