Karl Rove, the GOP strategist who helped guide George W. Bush to two presidential victories, advised President Joe Biden's campaign to "go hard" at Donald Trump's embrace of the "thugs" who stormed the Capitol in 2021.

"If they were smart, they'd take the January 6 and go hard at it," Rove told MSNBC's Ari Melber at the Rancho Mirage Writers Festival in California earlier this year. "And they would say, He wants to pardon these people who attacked our Capitol.'"

Rove said the siege is "a stain on our history and every one of those sons of bitches who did that, we ought to find them, try them and send them to jail."

Turdblossom for the win. There is no ambiguity surrounding 1/6. It was wholly wrong and in the service of one man trying to illegally remain in the presidency against the expressed and certified will of the voters.

And now Trump promises to pardon/commute the sentences of the criminals who viciously and violently attacked Capitol and DC police officers; received their fair trials and sentences by the letter of the law? Nothing screams authoritarianism like a former leader advocating his supporters are justified in using violence and breaking laws as long as it's in his service.

Trump even has Karl Rove scared into patriotism.

Back in the day, Mr Rove won fmr GW Bush's Presidency becasue he managed to get gay marriage on the ballot in the States.

Karl Rove says he didn't engineer anti-gay marriage amendments. He did. (2010)
www.dallasnews.com

... For years, Karl Rove has denied that he helped engineer anti-gay marriage amendments in states to help George W. Bush win reelection in 2004. Rove's position was that the marriage amendments arose organically within eleven states, including political crucial Ohio, and that the Bush campaign wasn't involved in any way. Not true, a former Republican National Committee chairman now says.

Ken Mehlman, who was Bush's campaign manager in 2004 and RNC chairman, says in an interview in The Atlantic that he knew Rove "had been working with Republicans to make sure that anti-gay initiatives and referenda would appear on November ballots in 2004 and 2006 to help Republicans." We wrote about that in our book The Architect, noting that despite Rove's public pronouncements, his active strategy was to divide and conquer by microtargeting religious conservatives and turn out in big numbers against gay marriage -- and for George W. Bush. ...

imo, maybe look at the benefits of a J6 strategy vs an the pro-choice strategy that seems to be working?

I wish I knew politics....

After the Mitt Romney vote switching fiasco in Ohio, I wouldn't take any advice from Karl Rove.

#5 | Posted by Twinpac at 2024-04-05 07:21 AM | Reply

Where was Rove when Republicans were kickimg in the doors of the Dade County, FL Election supervisor's office in 2000 before the corrupt Supreme Court stole the election from Gore and without evidence handed it to G.W. Bush? And considering that, as President, the bastard lied us into war in Iraq which makes John Roberts equally to blame for thousands of American casualties and at least on million Iraqi civillian deaths. The entire Republican Party is totally corrupt and has been provably so since 1972! Not surprising that the appointments made by Republican Presidents has made decision after decision allowing states and corporations to make it harder to vote and able to raise unlimited campaign cash by pandering to CEOs of major corporations.

Absolutely. If we were smart.

Are we smart? Smart enough?

Come on Dems. Let's get on it!

Repeat after me ...

"I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!"

Find Trump guilty on all counts in all states and jurisdictions and let his cult followers blow their wad on that.

It's better to face the threat head on than live in constant fear.

I for one will probably never forgive them. At least as long as they are in denial of what they have done.

That's the spirit...drag that hate around until you're dead.

And consider this.....if they are in denial of what they did wrong, then your forgiveness is meaningless to them.

So, if you consider forgiving them....do it entirely for yourself. Which is really the value of forgiveness.

I'm only saying this because I've had to cross this bridge in my life a few times.

"That's the spirit...drag that hate around until you're dead. "

GFY

Being angry about something is not necessarily a bad thing. Anger energy can be put to good use. It's how you deal with it.

Like the anger women must feel when men think they right to control women s health and bodies. That anger energy will serve us well in November.

"And consider this.....if they are in denial of what they did wrong, then your forgiveness is meaningless to them."

Exactly why I won't forgive them. Until they come to terms with what they have done.

"So, if you consider forgiving them....do it entirely for yourself. Which is really the value of forgiveness."

You go ahead and forgive them if you like. That's your choice.

I will keep that "anger" energy in check and on standby and ready to bring forth depending on what happens in November and after.

And I will "forgive" them when they repent. And not a second sooner.

The "drag around the hatr"was meant to be total sarcasm, by the way

Why should we forgive someone who says their horrible actions were justified and they'd do it all again?

Trump said he's never had to ask god for forgiveness because he's never done anything wrong.

And until they do admit it was wrong and vow to never let it happen again in America then sorry, no forgiveness. If they admit to their crimes do their time and come out and try to make America a better place instead of trying to tear it down then sorry, no forgiveness.

And I am definitely not going to forgive them and then just have to shoot them on Dictator Day.

That would be just too weird.

"That anger energy will serve us well in November."

You mean "your" anger? How is your anger in November any different than my lack of anger, considering we're both going to vote the same, at least for president?

"GFY"

again, the drag the hate comment was sarcasm.....

"And I will "forgive" them when they repent. And not a second sooner."

You want them to deserve the forgiveness.

I see it differently. I don't care if they deserve it. I'm truly doing for MY reasons. Not theirs. So I can move on and let it go.

I've been very wronged in the past by a family member......a family member who never acknowledged what they did or how it impacted me.

I knew they never would. But for some crazy reason, I forgave this person....and I was amazed at how liberating it was. It was the best thing I could have done. I cut it loose and moved on. for MY reasons.

just my 2 cents......

The real shame is that so far the Leaders of the coup attempt via fake elector ballots have gotten away with their crimes... it's only the ground troops at the Capitol and some of the fake electors who have been punished, some of which do have regrets.

The leaders, the plotters, the congress critters... they have yet to be punished, and never will be if Trump is elected. By a minority of the population again.

That's because biden chose a conservative coward as attorney general as if that would make fascists return to being regular republicans. Blindly naive.

"forgive" is not the right word.

I prefer to say I will never forget what they did . . . and then vote accordingly.

Which is the only recourse any of us have after the fact.

As for Rove, there's a saying: "Old politicians never die. They just smell that way."

@#22 ... Look at the liberals embracing Karl Rove. ...

Mr Rove proffered a strategy for fmr Pres GW Bush to win the election.

At the time, his strategy was to place a hot issue (gay marriage) on the ballot in many states to draw out republicans supporters.

Why shouldn't Democrats use that strategy?

Though this time using abortion instead of gay marriage?
