Maureen Dowd: I don't need a black robe to hand down a judgment on the Supreme Court. It's corrupt, rotten and hurting America.

Down? Sorry about that. It's Dowd, who writes:

"The Fall of Roe," an insightful new book by the New York Times reporters Elizabeth Dias and Lisa Lerer, laid out the events and the strategy " and the failure of the Democrats to recognize the threat " that led to the fall of Roe. There was a determined group of religious zealots with a long-term master plan to pack the court with religious zealots.

"These conservative Catholic and evangelical Christian operators believed they were fighting the biggest moral battle of the modern age, and forced America to debate on their terms," they wrote. "But despite their public appeals, they did not convince broad swaths of Americans of the righteousness of their cause. Instead, they remained a minority, and leveraged the structures of American democracy in their favor, building a framework strong enough to withstand not only the political system but also a society moving rapidly against them. They took power to remake the nation in their image. And they were far more organized than their opponents or the public ever knew."

Now it's up to Democrats to turn the tables and see if they can use this issue in the November election to save the country and women's rights.

And with a completely useless congressional body, the Supreme Court is currently above discipline.

The only reason it's "rotten" is because it no longer acts as a super legislature for the left.

The rulings are more constitutionally grounded, more narrow and more allowing of a legislative (does congress even pass laws any more?) solution to issues the left want to easily codify with 5 people wearing black robes.

Absolutely not.

"The only reason it's "rotten" is because it no longer acts as a super legislature for the left."

You called The Clinton Foundation corrupt for much, much less. If it turned out HRC got a quarter million dollar RV for "free", had a benefactor paying her mother's rent, and another pay for Chelsea's college, your head would explode.

Clearly, the difference is the letter after the name.

How can you argue with someone like Jeff, who literally does not understand the Constitution, about whether an aggregate number of rulings are "more constitutionally grounded?" Jeff - you're wrong, and i'm not going to bother explaining why. Can you just shut up about ---- you don't understand?

Joe,

I'm quite confident I've read the Constitution more than you have. Your approach to politics is purely the ends justify the means. As long as you net a victory it doesn't matter how it was achieved. You are exactly the type of person the framers had in mind when creating a system of government with limited powers and checks and balances.

And yet you still don't get it.

Have you bothered to read the Federalist Papers yet?

The only reason it's "rotten" is because it no longer acts as a super legislature for the left.

And you think that acting like a super legislature for the extreme right is better?

The Supreme Court is supposed to be impartial to both "sides" of any case and interpret the law in accordance with the constitution. Not the Bible or the magma carta free or pastor Billy Bob from the 1800s.

And all judges (especially the Supremes) are supposed remain neutral to avoid even the appearance of bias or conflict of interest.

Flying an American flag upside down (or allowing it) on his own house on his own property in response to a neighbors yard sign is not remaining unbiased, neutral or impartial. It does have even the appearance of it. Quite the opposite in fact.

I'm quite confident you're lying.

Not your first time, obviously.

You, much like Donald Trump, are habitual liar, and will say anything at any time.

"Nice straw man. Pot meet kettle."

First, that is not a strawman. Please re-check your dictionary.

Second, I want Bob Menendez and Mike Cuellar to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Meanwhile, you can't name a single indictment on Donald Trump that you or I could do without fear of legal repercussions.

And while I have your attention: what did you think of Exhibits #35 and #36?

#13 | Posted by Danforth at 2024-06-06 02:24 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

^Sorry, Henry Cuellar.

Mike Cuellar is a former St. Louis Cardinal pitcher.

So, Jeff, where in the Constitution is the "Major Questions Doctrine"

So, Jeff, who had standing in the Student Loan case?

So, Jeff, how come the SC had to misrepresent (you know, lie) about the evidence in the Kennedy vs. Bremerton School District case?

So, Jeff, what gives the SC the authority to dictate to the legislative branch how they delegate their spending authority?

Given your inability to understand the falsifying documents case, I don't think anyone should take your opinion on the SC seriously. Of course, that is good idea with anything you post-to not take it seriously, because you are an irredeemable lying pos.

118th Congress on track to become one of the least productive in US history
Only 34 bills were passed last year, according to data.

The 117th Congress, which took place during President Joe Biden's first term, passed 362 bills, according to the data.

One thing Jeff gets right is republicans don't know how to govern.

The Federalist Papers? Jeff? Maybe when he's closed the book, so to speak, on Emmanuel Goldstein's The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism.

Name one time that you have said a Right winger deserved punishment if guilty of a crime or an investigation should happen. I bet Danforth can name several of non-right wingers in addition to right-wingers.

You are one of those people act like right wing strongmen and crooks can do nothing wrong. While actual centrists and left leaning people say "punish them" even if they are from their own side. This is yet another key way the right and left are different.

Going back to this one. The only reason it's "rotten" is because it no longer acts as a super legislature for the left.

When was that? Most of my life it has been balanced. 4 on the right and 4 on the left with a true man in the middle.

What checks and balances are there on the current corrupt SCOTUS? When is congress going to crack down on Thomas for taking $2.4 million in bribes over the last 20 years?

#24 | Posted by LegallyYourDead at 2024-06-06 06:28 PM | Reply

Right to Privacy? That is too complicated a topic for Jeff to answer.

I'd like Jeff to answer the simple question of the source of "Major Questions" doctrine. Or how judicial review can be applied to a case with a plaintiff that has no standing.

He is SOOOOOO concerned about the SC acting as a "Super Legislature", when these 2 issues alone are gutting the separation of powers in an unprecedent power grab. An unprecedented power grab mind you by a super majority of justices that are OBVIOUSLY and BLATANTLY corrupt.

The court relied on a 17th century misogynist that burned women alive to craft a decision taking away womens health care.

The court is corrupt.

" ... republicans [ ... ] are pretty effective at the state level."

What a riot. At the state level, red states are seeing a major brain drain, as (for example) OB GYNs are fleeing states like Texas and Idaho, and no grads want to do their internships or externships in those states. It's also becoming impossible for headhunters to place those specialists in those states. That's only "effective" if that's your ultimate goal.

"At the federal level they are a disjointed mess."

Congratulations, you built that.

Even in states where they've managed to rig the legislature, they're an absolute mess. Wisconsin Republicans can't stop tripping over their dicks trying to recall their Assembly leader for only being a 99% Trump knob-slobberor, and haven't passed a bill of consequence in years.

Haven't a few states already proven that nothing the supreme court says or does is binding?

Alabama and Mississippi or Louisiana, maybe?

I know Texas got the media to pretend they were defying them, but that was make all believe.

It seems to me that 2 other states just told em to get ------ and that they were going to continue with whatever racist -------- they were doing.

Anyway,,,

Why does anyone care about them anymore?
