Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, August 11, 2024

"Folks, the spotlight and all the joy surrounding her is clearly driving Donald Trump just a bit crazy and he is getting desperate," [MSNBC host Michael Steele] began. "Holding an hour-long rambling press conference at Mar-a-Lago and re-agreeing to debate Harris after backing out and trying to set the terms of the debate himself." "He is getting defensive, resorting to his playbook of insults and name-calling, and rage-posting on Truth Social about crowd sizes," he continued before adding, "Here's the bottom line on all this: Team Harris is on the rise, Team Trump is flailing " I would say even flatlining."

From what I see, the issue is fmr Pres Trump himself, he seems to have lost confidence in his campaign.

Sen Vance seems to be showing an ability to pivot away from prior mistakes (now talking about families instead of childless cat-women).

But fmr Pres Trump, he's gonna say and do what he wants, with little regard for what the campaign may be coaching him to do.

Will fmr Pres Trump eventually come around and start listening to his campaign again?

Will VP Harris and Gov Walz be able to keep up their current momentum, and turn it into voter turnout and votes for Democrats?

We have about 90 days to watch and see...

Yes. Elder abuse is a sad thing to see. Uday and Qusay and their beards should be put in prison.

Trump had to rehire Kelly Anne Conway to his campaign, since it was basically rudderless. Not so sure she's the MVP Trump's campaign needs, but goes to show they're trying to pull anyone and everyone off the bench even with 3 innings (i.e., 3 months) left in the ball game.

Tim's rallies are going to be about Hope optimism and the American dream.

I can tell you who's got my vote as likely to be elected.

From the sub-summary...

... Trump lashes out about Harris crowd size ...

Number of tickets sold at the Lollapalooza music festival in Brazil from 2014 to 2019
www.statista.com

... In 2018, the number of tickets sold at the Brazilian edition of Lollapalooza music festival, which takes place in the city of Sao Paulo, amounted to 246 thousand. It was the third highest grossing music festival worldwide in 2019. ...

In 2014, there were "only" 135,000 tickets sold.

Here's a video of one performance from that 2014 event...

Quite the crowd there.

The man is almost 80 years old, and is the oldest man to obtain his party's nomination for president. He's been in cognitive decline for years, progressively worsening throughout his presidency and he is increasingly more unhinged daily.

His abuse of drugs has been talked about since his Apprentice days. Noel Casler has basically ignored his NDA and has been open about all of the accommodations they made for him on the set of the Apprentice, including his frequent soiling of his diapers (a result of his drug addiction), his frequent use of the "n" word and his philandering.

He is obsessed with crowd sizes, and he is unable to fill stadiums like Kamala Harris is doing right now. He has stiffed around a dozen cities for the rallies they held for him in the 2016 and 2020 elections, so fewer places are willing to front him the money and paid security for rallies...as he has always done in the past, he doesn't pay his bills and thinks he can get away with it.

He has been convicted of 34 felony counts. Although the stolen documents case has been dismissed by Judge Cannon, that trial is not over by a long shot. He has sentencing in September, and two other cases coming up (one we hear about in 4 days).

The man is completely unhinged, and something like 40 of his former staff are refusing to endorse him - including Mike Pence, his VP for four years until the president allowed the mob to run amok in the Capitol Building, looking to hang him.

He owes a half billion dollars for fraud and defamation. Most of his cabinet have been convicted of crimes, or pleaded guilty to crimes. His lawyers are getting disbarred. His advisors are serving time, or have recently been released from jail.

But sure, please let's pretend that asking him questions about his crowd sizes at a weird and largely incoherent press conference, because THAT's the most important issue right now, LOL...

To fmr Pres Trump, based upon his comments, yeah, that does appear to be the most im[portant issue [to him] right now.

Shriekback - This Big Hush (1985)

Lyrics excerpt...

genius.com

...
Is there a fire in the sky?
Is there a moon up there?
Is there anything alive now?
This darkness is what I hear
This is a breathless silence
A moment out of time
I see your face in the shadows
The telltale signs are in your eyes

[Chorus]
More than I can hold in my hands
Running through the gaps like water
Aching with a passion inside
Deep as the river
All desire, the ashes and the fire
Turning this night inside and the light from you
...

Not to mention that his campaign was hacked, and Politico sat on the news for 3 weeks...something that *should* have been reported, if the press is truly "liberal media" like they jumped on all the leaks during the 2016 election regarding another candidate's emails...

On top of that, there is evidence of a $10 million bribe from Egypt that Bill Barr buried during the Mueller investigation.

Dude is completely compromised, crooked and a degenerate. How anyone who calls themselves a Christian can stand the man is beyond understanding. Rupert Murdoch's legacy will stain the USA for decades to come.

I heard someone ask, "How do you explain illegally paying off a porn star in future history books?"

It is not unusual for news outlets to sit upon security deficiencies for a while (i.e., until the vuln can be patched), because reporting those issues may put others at risk.

Not a surprise.

I wish I knew.

And that is one of the reasons I visit this most august site, to try to understand all that.

OK, this trend is not going to help the mood of fmr Pres Trump...

Harris Leads Trump in Three Key States in NYT/Siena College Poll
www.bnnbloomberg.ca

... Vice President Kamala Harris leads Republican opponent Donald Trump by 4 percentage points among likely voters in each of three US battleground states, according to a survey by the New York Times and Siena College.

The Aug. 5-9 poll of 1,973 registered voters shows Harris with 50% support among the likely electorate in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Trump had 46% support in each state.

The numbers add to the Democratic presidential campaign's momentum just as Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, wrap up a tour of the handful of states that could make the difference in the November election. ...

Looks like the poll results are starting to leave the quagmire of the margin of error.

My money is on no.

Do you think if the RNC offered the Dotard a consolation prize of a big plaque that says "Mr. Popularity" that he would drop out and let J. "Drag" Vance take it from here?

And so I offer thanks to those within the Democratic Party who sat with President Biden and got him to back Harris' candidacy. As someone just a year younger than Trump, I get how hard it is to back away, to acknowledge aging as an unforgiving force, it takes away our energy, our talents, slowly. Such is life, that is why they invented retirement.

Agreed. The RNC doesn't have the same option, apparently. Trump has emasculated the party and they also went all-in on the "changing candidates is unfair" bs. So, now they get to die on the boat with Trump and RuVance.

In my mind, I see a poignant political cartoon. It starts by showing a sanguine octogenarian steeling himself to take on all that is Trump in his attempt to protect America and its constitutional rule of laws and order, but he's obviously weakened, and frail, not at all a formidable figure.

He hears a familiar voice coming from behind him, and then looks and sees a younger warrior - resplendent in her newfound powers and popularity - leading masses of happy, determined Americans rallying together as she picks up Biden's mantle and gently says to him, "Thanks Joe, we've got it from here."

That's not what happened during the 2016 campaign. Not at all. The double-standard is glaring.
