"You are no hero," state District Court Judge Matthew Barrett told Peters. "You're a charlatan who used and is still using your prior position in office to peddle a snake oil that's been proven to be junk time and time again." "Your lies are well documented, and these convictions are serious. I'm convinced you'd do it all over again if you could," Barrett told the former Mesa County clerk. "You're as defiant a defendant as this court has ever seen."

Ah yes, the "special mattress" defense"because nothing screams "I'm too delicate for jail" like a memory foam mattress request. Apparently, when you incite insurrection or breach voting systems, the real punishment isn't prison time"it's being deprived of your cloud-like slumber. How tragic.

Imagine telling the judge, "Your honor, I know I helped undermine democracy, but have you considered my lumbar support?" That level of delusion deserves its own cell, preferably with a rock-hard cot for extra irony.

She's looking for a job in the Trump Admin... looking to get onto Staff, so to speak.

Or on 'Shroom, as the case may be, Jaja.

Besides, King Trump will Pardon her.

Or give her Laura Loomer's old job.

21st Judicial District Judge Matthew Barrett preceded his sentence with a blistering critique of her actions and attitude, calling Peters an attention-seeking former official who only thinks about herself.

"You are no hero," Barrett told Peters. "You're a charlatan who used, and is still using, your prior position in office to peddle a snake oil that's been proven to be junk time and time again."

She's obviously a Dem pretending to be a Trumper in order to dis Hair Fuhrer!

But seriously, good to see these lawbreakers get their sentences; perhaps those who think they will get away with the same thing this time will think twice... naw.

It's unlikely they'll even think once.

"I'm not a criminal and I don't deserve to go into a prison where other people have committed heinous crimes," Peters told the judge tearfully.

One more time, slowly this time: If you can't afford the time ...

He's connected to Tina Peters.

Did she get nine years fixed or will she be eligible for parole before the nine years are up? Frequently the top line sentence is not the actual time a defendant will spend in jail. You need to see the word "fixed" as the part of the sentence that they will actually have to serve. I searched several news articles about this and none of them mentioned that nuance. Anyone got a read on this?

She will be eligible for parole once she has served half her sentence according to Joyce Vance on MSNBC yesterday.
