Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Twelve male college students at Salisbury University have been arrested for allegedly luring a man to an apartment "due to his sexual preferences" with a fake Grindr account, then viciously beating him while yelling homophobic slurs. The students, who are all affiliated with a fraternity, are charged with first degree assault, false imprisonment, reckless endangerment and hate crimes. The beating came to light after one of the geniuses shared video of their attack with two people who reported it.

"expect more of this"

at public universities in states like Maryland? I hope not.

Not that it matters, but if this had happened at a Christian school in Oklahoma, this thread would be 200 posts.

... 12 Frat Brothers Charged in Attack on Gay Man ...

My first question...

What is the purpose, the reason for organizing, of that Fraternity Chapter? Did those students meet that reason?

Found this ...

Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity expels members who face assault, hate crime charges in Salisbury
www.wbaltv.com

... The Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity has expelled members who face assault and hate crime charges in Salisbury. ...
... In a statement, the fraternity said:

"Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) was disappointed to learn about the events described in Salisbury University's recent communications, in which former members of our organization were involved in an incident on campus. These individuals' actions do not align with the values of our organization or reflect the principles of our fraternity's creed, The True Gentleman.

"Upon learning of the allegations, SAE acted swiftly, expelling the members involved. We remain committed to fostering an environment of respect, integrity and belonging " values that are fundamental to both our chapter and SAE nationwide. Sigma Alpha Epsilon condemns hate and violence in any form, and we are disappointed that members of our chapter were involved in such an act.

"The Fraternity Service Center has reviewed the circumstances surrounding the incident and has confirmed that it was isolated to the expelled individuals. The remaining members of our chapter are devoted to our mission and continue to uphold the high standards expected of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

"The Fraternity Service Center of SAE is committed to the well-being of our members, guests, and their respective communities. Our staff will continue to work with our chapters, university officials, and local alumni leaders to reinforce these values." ...

OK, as a former officer in a Fraternity, and in that Chapter's Alumni Association, that statement is good, but incomplete.

My questions is --- how did those students get into the Fraternity? There apparently is something of concern about the screening process.

My guess is if they aren't out on bail some booty bandits who gets wind of their papers will teach them boys a lesson the college doesn't offer. They stand a good chance of being housed with openly gay butch daddy bad attitudes for a bunkie. They better hope mumsie and dadikins have enough crypto to post bail and hire good attorneys.

Salisbury is the Eastern Shore part of MD... a very different atmosphere from the rest of the state. Part of me isn't at all surprised.
