"In our conversation, Bannon insisted the billionaires who contributed millions to the inauguration are not buying influence but being used as trophies by the new president.

"They're not there because they support Trump. They're there because the Trump movement and President Trump broke them," Bannon said.

His difference with Musk centered on H-1B visas for high-skilled immigrant workers. Musk has lobbied Trump to support them, and in late December posted on X that he would "

Why are you listening to Steve Bannon Corky?? Aren't you tired of being in the losing side of things?? We have to double down and fight Trump's agenda as much as possible. Oh and just for the record Celebrating Neoconservatives campaigning for Kamala was a horrible look. Just sayin

The Point, Laura, is that MAGA purport to be populists who hate Oligarchy.... and yet that's what they've given us.

King Dotard II is a grifter who cares only about money and his next mark. In his mind he recognizes that one or two billionaires are easier targets than millions on low income mouth breathers. As Heather Cox Richardson wrote, at the inauguration Trumps supporters are left out in the cold, with only the rich marks welcome in the warmth ...

Americans are so stupid. Millions of people gave $$ to a billionaire with a proven track record of lying and grifting, believing he will help the middle and lower classes, when his entire history is stealing from workers and stalling to pay his bills.

America deserves what is coming.

#5 E1G1 Don't lump all of us together, there are plenty of us who voted for Harris/Walz. Unfortunately, some Dems were too lazy to go vote and here we are!

Donald was, is, and in the future screwing MAGA.

Donald screws everyone.

No sympathy for you Orange Fascists. Donald is simply showing your place.

Which I think is along the lines of shoveling sh--.

Inskeep: You suggest a scenario where Trump is effectively using these tech leaders. They're up on stage with him, as though they're totems of his triumph. Are you sure that he's not using you, though, that it might be the reverse, that they're going to get what they want out of this and you're not?

Bannon: This is all a process, right? This is a populist, nationalist revolution in this country. It's been building for a long time. It takes a real understanding of how the system is and what solutions are populist solutions to change it. So is President Trump using us? No, it's his movement, right? We wouldn't be a movement if President Trump hadn't come along.

Steve's in for a big surprise.

It was bernie's movement first. But corporate dems rejected populism so trump (pretended to) embrace it and won.

"is that MAGA purport to be populists who hate Oligarchy."

the left purports to be populists who hate oligarchy as well.

and yet will invite as many billionaires into the tent that can fit there.

Face it.

You don't have a problem with billionaires, corky. you have a problem with billionaires who support republicans.

There is leftwing populism and rwing populism, Bernie v Bannon... were the two ever to coalesce around something like, oh, say, opposition to Oligarchy that all populists purport to oppose, then we might be able to have nice things.

But the Oligarchs know this, too, and have kept the populists split over stupid social issues.

That's been money well spent villainizing immigrants, women, the 2 percent who are trans, and anyone not white as a sheet.

--------. Musk investing 100's of millions in owning Donald Trump, moving into his house, then setting up a private org to harass and control Gov agencies is not anything like what Soros has done.

But let's get rid of them both. No private money in politics, only Public Financing funded by the same people who do it now, big corps and media... only this time through their taxes, not their bribes.

I have a problem with any billionaire influencing policy for their own benefit.

I have a MUCH BIGGER problem with any billionaire throwing their support behind a russian puppet con man sociopath who attempted a coup against democracy.

So would you if you had any ethics or patriotism.

I could tell you I believe in the same thing....and I do.

But since you probably don't believe me and it doesn't matter anyhow because it's not going to happen......why do you deflect with your puritanical beliefs?

You chastise Laura for leaving the planet with her unrealistic expectations of democrats....this is kind of the same thing.

Let's return to earth shall we? Earth where these billionaires have their access and politicians on both sides are going to accept their support.

Let's not waste anymore time trying to assign virtue and cleanliness to such billionaires.

But it's what you do........

- why do you deflect with your puritanical beliefs?

Obviously, you don't know what that word means.

- it's what you do........

What you do is type nonsensical word salads to try to hide the fact that you have nothing whatsoever to say.... particularly the part where I, "assign virtue and cleanliness to such billionaires."... which of course never happened, you just made that up.

Enjoy your New American Fascism from your seat on the Fence... though it won't be safe there when they come for you.

Thanks. You enjoy it as well from wherever you feel comfortable, I guess. But I can assure I have taken specific steps in my personal and professional life to best address the risks and exposures of the next 4 years.

Have you? I mean....if you're gonna keep saying "fascism" as though you really fear it..........

Look, don't get mad at me for simply pointing out you don't have a problem with billionaires. You only care about who they support.

I know that's a bitter pill for you to swallow but it's true and you know it.

Pretending that Musk's 100's of billions to buy Trump, and his DOGE to run the Gov... along with Peter Theil's Very Own VP, and Leo Leonard's Wholly Owned Supreme Court has any equivalency among left leaning billionaires is... well, sonny boy, it's pathetic.

Yet funny. Congrats on that!

But that was going to happen regardless. Musk was going to get access to the WH regardless of who won.

But try to remember that when you're lecturing others ... ... .

The billionaire class has poisoned both political parties to the detriment of the American people. Just sayin.

#29 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-01-20 03:17 PM | Reply

Most other countries have quickly passed laws limiting how much individuals can donate to a political party.

Here in America we've eliminated such safeguards and handed our elections over to the billionaires.

I'm sure they've got America's best future at heart.

That's why there are so many libraries and museums and parks built by today's billionaires.

No? There been zero philanthropy. Just spaceships to mars?

Aside from being real creepy looking I find myself despising him regardless.

When Andrew Breitbart died Bannon assumed leadership of that site and proclaimed it the home of the alt right. It's what drove Ben Shapiro out of the site. He endured more anti-semetic nastiness than anyone in 2016.
