As vaccine skepticism gains a greater foothold in the Trump administration and some statehouses, some Americans may already be paying the price, with deaths from influenza on the rise.

This has been a bad #flu season for all ages, with #CDC estimating 43M illnesses, 560K hospitalizations & 24K deaths from flu so far this season. It's been a bad year for pediatric flu deaths. Though flu activity is subsiding, this figure will continue to climb because reports are often delayed.[image or embed]

Whats interesting this year, is there was no advertisements about getting the flu shot this year.

I can't recall EVER a year where I didn't see an advertisement, obviously I got my shot, thanks Google Calendar, but usually I see some ads.

The CDC halted its Wild to Mild flu vaccine campaign on Feb. 19, 2025, in the middle of one of the worst U.S. flu seasons in nearly 30 years.

Heard on the radio measles - a disease that was eradicated thanks to vaccines - has now hit Tennessee too.

Trump disbanded the WH pandemic response unit early in his first term. Then COVID came knocking and millions died.

And we have a former heroin addict and vaccine denier in charge of public health. God help us.

Funny how the flu went away for covid. Sure, 'the lockdowns worked!' But just for the flu, not for covid...

... This has been a bad #flu season for all ages, ...

Yup.

This is the first year in a long while where influenza caught up with me.

Fortunately, because of the yearly vaccines, my case was mild.

So I suffered for a couple of days.

In this instance for me, "suffered" = low energy, moderate fever, some minor aches and pains.
