Karine Jean-Pierre, former White House press secretary for President Joe Biden, has left the Democratic Party to become an independent, she writes in a new book that will be released this fall. In her upcoming book "Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines," Jean-Pierre shares "why Americans must step beyond party lines to embrace life as Independents," publisher Hachette Book Group says in a summary of the book released June 4. "Jean-Pierre didn't come to her decision to be an Independent lightly," the teaser for the book adds. "She takes us through the three weeks that led to Biden's abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision."

Some Democrats are identifying as independents because the old guard, Clinton~esque, moderate republican governance, which favored corporations and free trade, abandoned working class Americans.

Good.

Maybe her leaving to become an Independent (and hopefully, not just to sell a book) will give the Democrats the wake up call they need to get back to those voters who have elected them in the past.

Gosh, I wonder if Ms. Karine Jean-Pierre will discuss in her expose how the DNC puts the interests of Israel ahead of the hardworking American taxpayer, which cost Democrats 6,265,888 antiwar votes on 5 Nov 2024?

@#8 ... Not an attack, but more a rebuke of the DNC ...

Mostly I agree.

The Dems need to move forward without the crustaceans like Sen Schumer, as they need to change their focus and look to appeal more to younger voters with a message of how the Dems can help those younger voters.

Was putting Mr Hogg in the DNC a mistake? I'm not yet convinced of that. But, for some reasons, it seemed to generate issues within the DNC.

Maybe, that is what the DNC needs to examine and do some soul-searching.

LOL. I already told you this - Democrats are claiming to be independents because they are embarrassed to be associated with the Democrat brand because you cannot support their agenda and look sane. And the remaining 19% of the ------- liberals that still claim to be Dem think the solution is to go even more left. You are a dying party because you have fully embraced Globo----- and sane people don't want that. The more you lean into it, the more irrelevant your party will become.

To be honest, outside of your support of anything ----, illegal alien, or free ---- giveaway, I can't even define what the Democrat platform is. I have no idea what your trade policy is or how you will bring back manufacturing (or if you even want to). I have no idea how you want to fix higher education beyond paying the student the loans of losers. I have no idea even on climate change as you are burning Teslas. You used to be anti-war but now you want full war in Ukraine and Iran at least. You want to defund the police and de-criminalize shoplifting...until you don't like as voted in CA or Seattle.

Your party is dying because the things you agree on: support of anything ----, illegal alien, or free ---- giveaway - are not supported by citizens of the US. What are you going to run on in 2028 when Trump is not on the ballot?

Black women vote for the Dems at a 92% clip.
Lesbians also voted for the Dems at a 92% clip.

So, the fact that a double-DEI is now abandoning the party should set off alarm bells. Throw in that she willfully lied and looked like and idiot doing it for Biden - and she is still abandoning the party - should scare the ---- out of Democrats.

Same thing happened to Republicans in 2008.

It's what gave birth to the short lived Tea Party.

Correct - and it led to the collapse of the old GOP (Corporate GOP, religious nutjobs, and NEOCONs) and its takeover and total reformation into MAGA and bringing the party back to the mainstream with conservative, working class Dems and Independents flocking to it. The coalition completely changed.

You should hope the same happens to the Dems. But, you want to do the opposite and run further to the left.

You're absolutely clueless.

Today's Democratic Party represents corporate America, their policies are the same as they were during Clinton's administration.

Americans are tired of that.

We want what nations like Canada, Australia, and European nations have. Our tax dollars going help Americans. Funding our cities, providing national healthcare and educating our citizens. Instead of subsidizing the wealthy.

Unfortunately conservatives have fallen beholden to oligarchs. They seem to not understand people who are billionaires have no interest in helping anyone other than themselves. Otherwise they wouldn't have become billionaires.

"Today's Democratic Party represents corporate America, their policies are the same as they were during Clinton's administration."

LOL.
During Clinton, the majority of the Dems supported tariffs and opposed free trade and NAFTA
During Clinton, the Dems were against illegals as the unions didn't want the wage destroying impacts
During Clinton, the Dems were against Gay-Marriage, forget about the current trans insanity
During Clinton, the Dems wanted to lock up criminals - remember the 'super predator' comments?
During Clinton, the Dems wanted to collect the 'peace dividend' by shrinking the military
During Clinton, the Dems wanted reform the welfare state by adding work requirements

Either your memory is total ---- or you are completely dishonest. The Dems took a complete about face on all of these issues - and they are being punished at the ballot box for it.

"Americans are tired of that."

The Democrats lost on your progressive, far left platform. The GOP won on MAGA - which is basically the Clinton platform. So, you should rethink that.

"We want what nations like Canada, Australia, and European nations have. Our tax dollars going help Americans."

Australia is collapsing in line with China's collapse. Their huge string of positive GDP growth was fueled by being the natural resource provider to China. Those days are ending and the Australian housing market is starting to collapse as a result. The advantage that Australia has is that the people have resisted the influx of illegals and other foreign workers which collapse wage structures.

As for the EU and Canada - both are dying and falling further and further behind the US in GDP. Canada is utterly reliant on the US with 20% of their economy being linked to US trade - and those days are ending. Europe has killed itself by killing entrepreneurship. They don't have a single tech company of note. They have morphed into a theme park for middle class American tourists.

"Unfortunately conservatives have fallen beholden to oligarchs.

Democrats always love to say they are "independents" when they know their party is wrong on issues that really matter and get elected. They are still liberals/progressives, just embarrassed.

The Democrat Party is going to have to get rid of the gay/LGBTQ part of their party to ever be successful again.

The barbarian MAGA party won with less than 50 percent of voters' votes, 1.5% more than Harris. They are ruling like they received some kind of mandate, and they can get away with it, because the barbarian police state is MAGA, where they strong-arm and shut up their opponents who won't go along with their lies

"Bring back the homophobes! Bring back hate yo the Democratic Party!"Tell you what BOAZ, I will guarantee you that will never happen! Thankfully! We're the big tent party because we really have a big tent membership! We are not now and never want to be capitalizing on hate like the GQP has since Nixon's Southern Strategy which was based on white resentment of the Civil Rights Act passed by Democrats; the GQP is still riding that wave of hate. You keep it, we don't want those people in the Democratic Party; we want a party that actually stands for something other than oligarchy like the GQP! Oligarchy, just like Mother Russia and GQP idol Putin!

The democrats don't have to get rid of LGBTQ from their party to be successful. They only have to be semi-moderate in regards to it. Instead right now it's an all or nothing litmus test, and that is what is pushing people away. Being just a bit less dogmatic on their TQ stances, Kamala probably would have won.
