... The poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that about 9 in 10 U.S. adults say the right to vote, the right to equal protection under the law and the right to privacy are extremely important or very important to the United States' identity as a nation. The survey also found that 84% feel the same way about the freedom of religion. The results, which included perspectives on a number of different freedoms and rights, have only small variances between Republicans and Democrats except on the right to bear arms, which Republicans are more likely to see as core to the nation's identity. The overall findings are striking because they come at a time of extreme partisanship when political agreements seem rare and concerns are heightened over the potential for violence during a volatile presidential election year. ...

Americans also mostly agree on policy solutions for the obvious problems we have, usually by 70 to 90 percent.
It's hard werk keeping Americans divided on social/cultural issues while the wealthy keep their taxes cut by deficit spending, but the best Congress Critters Corporate Money can buy have a full time job doing it.

Most Americans, she said, "are pretty moderate, but they've been riled up to hate people of the other party for being different from them culturally, racially and religiously."

Blowout landslide numbers (77-91%) for every aspect of democracy except the slight majority (54$) for gun rights.

Makes one wonder why nothing can be done about so many issues.
On a separate note, how many bills did the HoR pass in 2023?

Yup.
I'd like, to see a more nuanced survey done about gun rights, e.g., absolute right vs. fixing the intentionally flawed registration system we currently have.

They probably always have.
They also have probably disagree tremendously in the way to implement those core values.
But hey half the country is dehumanizing deplorables!

Republicans have more friends across the political divide than Democrats, study finds www.washingtonpost.com
Idk why it is this way, but this site is perhaps a petrie dish for rest of America.
So it's not about hate, it's about who you'd help or be friends with.
Lumpers will claim they don't hate, then post the most hateful posts on this site. IOW they are lying about not hating.

"Lumpers will claim they don't hate ... "
Those imaginary people living in your head are very strange.

Not likely.

We don't hate people who aren't harming us. Unlike fascist trumpers.
There's nothing wrong with hating fascist cults of russian puppet con men who are trying to end democracy in america.

MAGA has no American values. Or, more precisely, no values they aren't willing to overturn in the right circumstances.

The belligerent minority? 30% of the voting population at best.
And that number is getting smaller.

Haley still got double digit numbers of Republican primary votes in primaries after she dropped out.
And most of those were closed primary states. It wasn't Democrats crossing over ...
That 30% number is accurate. A small minority. But they're LOUD.
