... The budget plan also directs a variety of House committees to cut spending by at least $1.5 trillion while stating that the goal is to reduce spending by $2 trillion over 10 years.

The blueprint represents a first step in a lengthy legislative process that would allow Republicans to pass some of their top priorities in a simple majority vote. The House Budget Committee is expected to hold votes on the plan on Thursday. House Speaker Mike Johnson predicted it would easily advance out of committee.

"Then, we'll work with everybody over the week to make sure they are on board," Johnson said. ...

SO... they want borrow money and pay interest (which interest is our already largest expense... more than Military) so they can give tax cuts slanted to the wealthy?

Where have I heard that before?

To pay for these tax cuts, the GOP will savage SNAP, Medicare, and housing assistance. I guess there are no poor Republicans nationwide nor do they have any elderly, sick, homeless, or hungry relations. Good for them.

- savage SNAP, Medicare, and housing assistance

They will have to, as they so often tried in the past, because he's only now dealing something like .7 percent of the Budget.

He's certainly not going after banks to cut their interest rates for loaning money to the Treasury, or the Military budget, so starving and killing old people is where the money's at.

Hi Corky

Well, don't worry, the "Americans" below will be just fine-- "Jim Dandy" as we used to say. BTW: If any of these US oligarchs simply gave $1m to every American family, they would end poverty in our country forever-- and they would still be billionaires. One billion = one thousand million. US population as of 12 Feb 2025 =346,574,532 people.

How much s#it does the 0.00001% elite, the GOP, and the oligarchs think Americans can stomach? The US is looking more and more like Louis XVI's France or the Romanov's Russia.

Really 1Nut.... you should just give up, go home to Greenland, and stop embarrassing yourself.

"While widely associated with Jimi Hendrix, some sources also mention Mahatma Gandhi as a potential origin for this sentiment, given his strong advocacy for nonviolence and love as a means to achieve peace."

Unlike #2 Son, Ghandi has 'potential', but Hendrix is the main author noted almost always.

the goal is to reduce spending by $2 trillion over 10 years.

So now they're stating their goal is to reduce spending by only $200 billion a year? That's about the deficit of last month...

The MAGA Party functionaries are already complaining that the Dem minority is blocking passage of such budget and spending bills. Of course, they forget that 'majority > minority'. I just hope that the $400MM allocation for Tesla armored cybertrucks is still in the budget, so we can see and videotape the demonstration of these blocks of metal lumbering about, with 50 mile capacity for their batteries...

Social Security Cuts Being Discussed by Republicans

Feb 14, 2025 at 10:42 AM

"Republicans are publicly discussing the prospect of making cuts to mandatory spending programs, which could include programs like Social Security and Medicare.

Republican members of Congress are working on a major reconciliation bill that would renew or expand key elements of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a landmark piece of legislation from Donald Trump's first presidency.

The TJCA, which lowered corporate, individual, and estate taxes, contains numerous provisions currently set to expire at the end of 2025. The Treasury Office of Tax Analysis estimates that extending these tax cuts could add up to $5 trillion.

West Virginia Representative Riley Moore confirmed that Republicans have been "discussing" cutting mandatory spending"that is Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and veterans benefits"in order to pass Trump's tax cut agenda.

Moore said "the unified government" has an opportunity "to actually address mandatory spending." Mandatory spending is the part of a government's budget that is legally required to be spent, and includes funding for entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security and other payments to people, businesses, and state and local governments."

www.newsweek.com

More at the Link.... including previous quotes from Lil' Donnie and Lil' Mikey that these cuts would NEVER happen.

And Mandatory spending is Mandatory in part because people pay into SS their whole lives.

Well, except for Herr Musk, who stopped paying into SS when he got his new job as King.

But hey, he only gets 8 million dollars a day from the US Treasury, so no problem there.

I think you'd better check your math...

Elon is worth roughly $400 billion...

There are approximately 127 million families in in the US...

400,000,000,000.00/127,000,000.00 = approximately $3149.60. Which is nowhere near $1 million.

I thought tax cuts increase tax revenue. Shouldn't the tax cuts eliminate the need for new borrowing?

It will be interesting to see if the parliamentarian will allow cuts to mandatory spending in a reconciliation bill.

Either way this is giant middle finger to anyone over 65 or served in the military that voted for them.

But thank god those 10 transgender athletes can't play badminton anymore.

Who here is ready for martial law under Trump and Vance? How long do you think it would take for Trump's cabinet and his GOP cronies in Congress to instigate a situation that would allow Trump to invoke martial law?

Accept the risk that is part of the larger plan. If this administration does enough through its vile Cabinet appointees and DOGE & Trump & Vance & the SCOTUS majority to provoke his opponents into ever more vociferous protests all around the country.

That's already been happening like clockwork. Now add in 1500 Jan 6 convicts who are all out of jailed getting the code word to counter anti-Trump protests and provoke violence at these 50 state demonstrations. SECDEF Hegseth will nationalize national guards across the country to suppress dissent. And the chaotic DOGE process will throw enough Americans to step up their militancy in protest.

Bang!

At some point, Trump will tell his National Security Council that the cities across America are too problematic that he MUST declare martial law. And how will that end?

With unfaithful politicians on the protest lines thrown in jail and having their security clearances pulled, with military officers resisting martial law indicted for treason, along with AOC and Schiff and Raskin.

Once Trump declares martial law say goodbye to the America as we know it.

If only moderate GOP senator's who are rubber-stamping Trump's caninet nominees' appointments understood the precarious situation they are ensbling.

Obviously :)

Which leads me to one of many conundrums regarding MAGA/Nazi culture.

They're going to die. We're going to die.

Everybody gonna die.

Why do they waste so much time and energy trying to make everything awful?

Everybody alive now will be dead in 120 years - probably.

Their precious "Christian" empire will be yet another f-d up experiment that predictably failed.

It will be taught alongside Nazi Germany and the Pol Pot regime as examples of what not to do.
