Trump designated English as the country's official language in an executive order in March. In his order on Monday, the president said proficiency in English should be non-negotiable for professional drivers.

Fun fact...executive orders are not laws.

Remember when bunker bitch used to whine that a president using EO's to govern was weak?

For people working in commercial trucking, how was this not the law already?

It's obviously not necessary?

In your native country of Snow Mexico, I believe they require them to speak English and French. Please confirm.

Zeds a raetard. He thinks it's safe when people driving a 70,000 pound vehicle on a public road can't read road signs or communicate with DOT and LEO.

"They should be able to read and understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety, border patrol, agricultural checkpoints, and cargo weight-limit station officers,"

They are already doing all those things without the EO...

Why does Trump hate the trucking industry?

Why do you hate public safety? First, you want wife beating, gang member, illegal aliens released to roam the streets and now you want people driving big rigs that can't read road signs or communicate with law enforcement. If there any policy that terrorizes the American people that you don't support?

1) Trump specializes in curing problems that don't exist.

2) Much like he specializes in creating problems that don't exist.

3) Spanish-speaking truck drivers are no more of an issue than German-speaking ones.

4) Trump's issue is the color of the truck drivers

" 3) Spanish-speaking truck drivers are no more of an issue than German-speaking ones."

Agree with it or not, the directive is that truck drivers speak English. It doesn't have carve outs for other foreign languages so I don't know what point you are trying to make in bringing up other foreign languages.

"Agree with it or not, the directive is that truck drivers speak English"

I can't even get as far as agreeing with it or not.
How is it an actionable goal?

I don't see how speech can be compelled like that.
What is the enforcement mechanism here?

You explain it to me since you must understand it.

Sec. 3. Upholding English Proficiency Requirements for Commercial Motor Vehicle Operators. (a) The Secretary of Transportation, acting through the Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), shall, within 60 days of the date of this order, rescind the guidance document titled, "English Language Proficiency Testing and Enforcement Policy MC-ECE-2016-006," issued on June 15, 2016, and issue new guidance to FMCSA and enforcement personnel outlining revised inspection procedures necessary to ensure compliance with the requirements of 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2).

(b) In carrying out subsection (a) of this section, the Secretary of Transportation, through the Administrator of the FMCSA, shall take all necessary and appropriate actions, consistent with applicable law, to ensure that the out-of-service criteria are revised such that a violation of the English language proficiency requirement results in the driver being placed out-of-service, including by working with the relevant entities responsible for establishing the out-of-service criteria.

So, within 60 days, truckers will have some new bureaucratic requirements placed on them by the Trump administration. Some sort of test they will have to pass to prove they can English.

I think that Trump thinks that he is helping American Truckers and by extension American People with this.

It will of course hurt the trucking industry just like the tariffs already have.

Agree with it or not, the directive is that truck drivers speak English.

Why? You feel like your experience at the local truck stop---------- could be more enjoyable if you could converse with them more?

45 years of life, 30 years driving around, never once have I cared what language the drivers in the trucks around me were speaking.

I figure, if the company hired them to do the job, then they must be qualified.

But as with most things, Republicans need to meddle in business that has nothing to do with them.

I wonder, is having a depleted workforce what we need in order to make America great again?

What's considered classy if you're rich, but trashy if you're poor?

Speaking multiple languages.

So, where's the list of all the trucking accidents that happened because the truck driver didn't speak English?

Or is this just Virtue Signaling.

#16 Pretty common. Try reading newspapers outside of your box. Truckers complain all the time on X. That, and their wages and jobs are being cut by competing with Mexican truckers.

But you are a globalist, it's your job to work hard to destroy America.

Speaking of truck drivers ...

Q1 ends with thousands more freight layoffs

There is already a serious shortage of truck drivers in the US. This regulation will make that shortage worse and will result in higher prices and longer wait times for goods to arrive.

"Fun fact...executive orders are not laws."

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh man. I've been waiting to see this from liberals. Especially from the same liberals who demonized Reps for not wanting to follow Biden's EOs. Man oh man is it satisfying to see the squirming. Although it's terrible for the country, so there's that. But from a personal level, seeing either side eat their own crap is just satisfying.

If you don't like EOs. If you don't think EOs should be followed. If you hate on someone for putting EOs out. THEN STOP YOUR OWN FREAKING SIDE FROM USING THEM! On day one, Biden signed several EOs that went against the law and Reps whined like babies. Clinton signed over 300 EOs. Obama did over 200. And for every one of them, liberals were happy. Then all of a sudden someone else does it and boooooo hoooooo whine whine whine cry cry cry.

It's just like the filibuster issue. Dems did it extensively when W was in office. Then Reps started doing it just as much and Dems cried like wittle fwuffcakes.

Do any of you ever get tired of being wrong in terms of your hypocrisy? Do you even care? If you are one who actually thinks that you aren't being hypocritical to a degree that is hurting our country, you don't count. You are just as bad as any politician you dislike in America.

Remember when Trump whined about Obama's EO's?

Trump's already signed 141 EO's in his first 100 days!
