These are the people who think the other country pays the tariff.
These are the people who stare at an eclipse without eye protection.
These are the people who think rakes prevent wildfires.

Why does such incompetence seem to be the norm in the Trump regime?

She never should have made it though the Senate confirmation process.

@#5 ... never should have made it though the Senate confirmation process ...
You could also say that about a few other candidates that the Senate confirmed for the Trump regime.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, during her testimony this morning before the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee, was asked if she knew what Habeas Corpus was, and it became obvious very quickly that she had no idea whatsoever, claiming that it was a Constitutional 'right' given to the president which allowed him to suspend the rights of individuals and remove them from the country, she went on to claim that Lincoln used this 'right' during the civil war. When it was pointed out to her that she had gotten it totally backwards, that the right of Habeas Corpus was a Constitutional right protecting a person from being arrested without the government providing them with a reason for their arrest and allowing them to make a defense, she then claimed that the Constitution allowed the president to suspend that right anytime that he wanted to. She was again told that NO, that that was wrong, that the president would first need the approval of Congress.
Noem has a BA in Political Science, but perhaps the class covering the US Constitution was one that she got 'college intern credits' for while she was serving as a member of Congress in 2012.

I would bet 98% of Trump supporters do not know what the term Habeas Corpus means. Don't those people get to be represented too?

Overwhelmingly, they get "Represented".
It's the American Way.

I heard a bit of a Trump press conference today. The Senator from Indiana was saying how great the tariffs are for the Indiana economy. Trump named some states that will benefit bigly from his Golden Dome, they were all Red states. Trump thinks he can win a nuclear war with his Golden Orange Dome. Republicans seem to think so too.

Oh FFS, can we please stop this charade?
She knows exactly what it is. Her goal is to normalize and consolidate power in POTUS.
DOGE knows it's not saving any money. Their goal is to transfer money to certain preferred pockets.
Kennedy knows what grants are being cut. His goal is to gut modern scientific infrastructure and regulatory agencies to allow for more prolific sales and claims for garbage "therapies."
They're feigning ignorance and incompetence because it's easier than defending their position. But their actions are intentional and motivated by partisanship and the hope that they won't be considered disposable if they step out of line just a little bit.

Maybe she can ask her A1 what it means. I hear A1 sauce is very helpful in these matters.
"Now let's see A1 and how can that be helpful."-Secretary of Education Linda McMahon.
Every school should have access to A1 sauce and ICE Barbie should have access too.

She knew exactly what she was doing. For Republicans, the answer to everything now is "the president has the right".*
*does not apply to Democrat presidents

"It's good that you're taking away constitutional rights, Donny, it's real good."
