... SAF Executive Director Adam ----- condemned the Connecticut ban in a statement, asserting, "Second Amendment rights cannot be withheld from peaceable adults based on their age. To do so would relegate the amendment's guarantees to second-class status, which offends the very notion of the Constitution's premise." ...

When are these groups going to start arming the homeless? That would keep the streets immeasurably safer, by their reasoning.

The jury has returned with a verdict many years ago on whether Americans are to be trusted with everyone carrying a firearm.
We cannot.
I wonder if there is a betting site out there that bets on just how many mass shootings Americans will have to endure, as we indulge the firearm industry and the army of hate that wants all dysfunctional young men to carry on their drunken Friday nights.

Not only was this article from over 25 years ago, the salient point was it was done on April 1st:

"The article "Give Piece a Chance," though, was a hoax. A spoof. A prank. There is no group calling itself Arm the Homeless distributing handguns, shotguns and assault weapons to vagrants in downtown Phoenix.

Idiots will be idiots (see Fishpoo and Dingaling). And liars will lie and spread misinformation. (See Williowby) And the ignorant will skip over the 1st Amendment in favor of the 2nd (see Ice Barbie)

Even "slave soldiers" are not allowed to carry loaded weapons except under certain circumstances and only in the performance of their duties.

Weapons for soldiers are stored in the armory and are checked out and all ammo is accounted for.

Reducing and eliminating rational common sense rules for weapons is a fools game. But then again we are currently being led by clowns and fools.

What should we expect from clowns and fools? A more hostile and unsafe and deadly world where everyone is practically FORCED to carry deadly weapons. In that world you will need a security detail just to leave your homes.

Gratz.

Enjoy the FAFO America.

Do you still beat your wife?

Hugh is not "everyone". I think the question you are looking for is how many people have been murdered threatened etc by others with guns. Guns are involved in about 40,000 deaths a year in America.

And some people can clearly be trusted. Others clearly cannot. But regardless trust has to be earned.

There is a reason we don't let kids who haven't taken drivers Ed drive and we require them to get a permit to drive cars. We don't trust them. Cars too can be deadly weapons and not everyone has what we used to call "common sense".

Stupid waste of money.

SCOTUS has indicated in several decisions that they will uphold certain gun regulations, including who can bear an arm, where and when. They even cite the requisite laws from the proper times to fulfill their latest test they concocted out of thin air.

The leading cause of death for children in the US is automobile accidents. Following the logic here we need to ban cars. Social conditions seem to play a part in all of this, but what do I know.

New Report Highlights U.S. 2022 Gun-Related Deaths: Firearms Remain Leading Cause of Death for Children and Teens, and Disproportionately Affect People of Color (September 2024)

@#31

The stats cited are from 2016, and represent children aged 1-19. So more teens driving, than the children aged 1-17 in the 2022 article I cited.

So, it looks like a false equivalency.

But to the point of your two comments, maybe we should raise the age for children driving?

OK, I admit, I was draft-eligible (a.k.a. 1A) during the Vietnam War.

With that admission, if someone is drafted, that person is trained how to use a firearm (among other things).

Is "everyone else" also trained how to use a firearm?

To your current alias' point, maybe there should be mandatory training for those who purchase a firearm?

What a maroon. There is no draft now is there?? How can they be slaves if they all volunteered? It's an all volunteer defense force. That's the reality. So nope. No slave army in this reality. But I am sure Trumpy can fix that.

Maybe we'll even have an all immigrant Army soon. All winners of the American Ice Barbie Games. (losers go straight to the gravel pits)

Meanwhile people willingly agree to the government's terms (the UCMJ) and they willingly sign the contract. If they don't read the contract then that's on them.

The US always maintains the capability of raising a slave army.

Who needs to register

"Failing to register with Selective Service (the draft) is a felony under federal law. Penalties can include fines up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment for up to five years. Additionally, failure to register can result in ineligibility for certain benefits, including federal jobs, state-funded student loans, and citizenship."
