To say nothing of the fact that saving millions of lives is a good thing to aspire to, doing this in the manner it was done is beyond cruel.
Just stripping the funding immediately without giving the recipients time to find replacement services is guaranteed to cause massive chaos in areas with limited capacity to adjust to changes
America is BY FAR the richest country in the world and this was literal pennies in our budget
THIS was the soft power that made America great, that inspired the world to follow our example, to work with us.
Who do you think poor and developing countries will prefer working with moving forward? The superpower that stripped funding and programs that was saving their citizens OR China who is investing in them, building them infrastructure, schools, clean water?
It is BEYOND stupid to have done this.
And just to inform you. Cutting USAID resulted in miracle foods that save starving children, grown and produced here in America, being stopped from being shipped to areas of need and rotting in warehouses. Literal food spoiling while children starve
And for those not aware, much of USAID funding went to American companies to provide the goods that were being used to help people
And USAID was providing medicines and vaccines to poor and developing countries. Stopping that will cause outbreaks of preventable diseases which will cause pandemics that will arrive on our shores.
In the history of stupid this action is definitely a hall of fame stupidity
