Matt Wylie: Cowards. That's the only word that fits Senate Republicans who voted to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill. Each and every one of them campaigned on fiscal responsibility and waved the banner of limited government. Then when push came to shove, all but three folded.

... Cowards. That's the only word that fits Senate Republicans who voted to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill. ...

Republicans are no longer Republicans anymore, they are members of the MAGA cult.

As such, disagreement with Pres Trump is not allowable. Obsequious adulation and obedience are required.

I'm happy to have a break on my SS retirement taxes. The democrats wanted to raise my taxes.
Either party of course mainly goldbars their pets, but that being equal, the ones that want to lower my taxes are best for me.
Now if ICE can put their huge new budget to work we can kick out enough illegals to start talking about universal healthcare.

"I'm happy to have a break on my SS retirement taxes."

You are happy to believe any Trumpy lie.

You don't get a "tax break". You will still pay taxes on your SS.

You get a tax credit. If you qualify.

The proof is in the pudding. Get back to us when you do your taxes. And BTW it's only temporary. As all the cuts for the poor will be. Just to get you to foolishly support slashes to social programs for the poor to get permanent tax breaks for wealthy.

And Americans fell for it hook line and sinker.

Now do the "democrats wanted to raise them (taxes)" part.
Try a gratuitous denial. It's all you can do.

-Yes that would be a break, despite your gymnastics.

No it's not. A tax break is not paying the tax. You will still pay all your SS taxes. Until you file.

What you can get ... IF you qualify is a credit at the end of the year. And will not know how much that credit is until you file your taxes.

And again this only a temporary credit. Unlike the actual tax breaks the wealthy will get. Which will be made permanent.

Enjoy your two pencils and 2 dolls. While grumpy and his minions will get two personal jets and a yacht.

A fool and his money are soon parted.

" Now do the "democrats wanted to raise them (taxes)" part."

Why blame Dems, instead of the authors who wrote the rates returning?

And if you're running deficit budgets, and extend expiring tax cuts ... aren't you just borrowing more and more???

"You get a tax credit. If you qualify."

There is no specific tax break for Social Security.

There will be a temporary $6K additional standard deduction for those 65 or older, whether they're on SS or not. That, along with income caps, means the benefits are limited. They'll also expire before Trump leaves office, just like with tips and overtime.

BTW, anyone who ONLY gets Social Security will owe no income tax. Even a pair of 70 yr olds getting the max $5108/mo CURRENTLY pay ZERO in federal income taxes.

On $122,000 of income.

Thanks for the clarifications Danforth. It is tough is sorting through the lies and the cons.

I am so tired of being lied to by my own government.

Maga maroons love being conned.

Apparently.
