Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, July 14, 2025

Democrats were virtually salivating as they unanimously voted against Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill two weeks ago, which certainly should give pause to Republicans as they prepare for the midterms and the 2028 elections beyond. What gives the Democrats hope that they can campaign effectively against Trump's mega-bill? Is it the fact that Republicans were able to make permanent the 2017 tax cuts? Are they planning to campaign against the "no tax on tips" provision that even Kamala Harris supported? Will they claim that funding border security and mass deportation of illegal aliens is somehow bad for the country? No, no, and no. Democrats are not idiots. They know they have the short straw on all of those 80-20 issues. So they are going back to the same issue they have demagogued since 2008 " health care

"to have them register twice a year for these benefits is not a burden."

It very obviously creates the burden
of having to do something twice a year
that they did not have to do before.

Burdening other people isn't a burden, when you're a Republican.

"Hassett also explained that the best way to get insurance is to get a job, and so if the Trump economy stimulates growth, it will help people to happily leave Medicaid after they gain employment."

Trump2 has already shown that won't be happening.

Biden saw 2M job growth in his first six months.

Trump2 saw 1.5M job growth in his first six months.

Jeff really is dumb enough to believe ANYTHING.

No Taxes on Tips? Not in the bill. Just a deduction. It's doesn't apply to FICA. And its temporary. Worse, only the top 60% of workers who get tips will qualify because 40% don't make enough to pay federal taxes. But don't worry, we are cutting their Medicaid, Food Stamps, and Obamacare premium reductions to make them even worse off.

Immigration? Yeah, the public is now turning against Trump on it.

So let's get to the crazy stuff this idiot said:
Medicaid will still exist for some people therefore everyone will be happy and fine.
Food Stamps will still exist for some people therefore everyone will be happy and fine.
Obamacare premium reductions will still exist for some people even if reductions are lower therefore everyone will be happy and fine.

Oh, and now there will be a LOT more paperwork to qualify...if something doesn't go wrong in filing the paperwork.

I'm sure everyone will be HAPPY and FINE. And no rural hospitals will close. Definitely...

Of course it is. That's why Republicans added it. So they can kick people off as often as possible.

Whoever wrote the above sentence is abysmally ignorant about the subject and is making assumptions.

Assumptions which callous people, like BullBringer, blindly accept as fact.

As someone who is on Medicaid I am uniquely qualified to answer this question. It is a burden to do this twice a year. Not only is it burdensome it's worrisome as well. You have an unnecessary worry that you might be cut off from health insurance and being in a nursing home you worry about getting kicked out of it. It's painfully obvious to me that they want everyone off of Medicaid. If I lose that. I lose the roof over my head. You don't know what you're talking about Jeff. You really don't.

It isn't?

What's the enrollment increase in the next ten years, more than 20%?

What's the inflation over the next ten years, less than 20%? So you're guaranteeing a two percent inflation rate per year for the next decade -- technically lower, owing to compound interest.

In 4 years, Biden could not get US native born employment up to the levels Trump had pre-covid - in fact, he lost about 1.2M native born workers by the time he was put out to pasture.

Trump, in 6 months, brought 2M native born workers back into employment and had the highest real wage gains in the last 60 years.

"Only a racist could say 1.5M job growth is better than 2M job growth."

Here are the numbers for ------- Biden:

Foreign Born workers (fred.stlouisfed.org)
27,693,000: Trump peak pre-covid
31,774,000: Jan'2025
4,081,000 net gains under Biden

Native Born workers (fred.stlouisfed.org)
131,721,000: Trump peak pre-covid
130,573,000: Jan'2025
-1,148,000 net loss under Biden

Under Biden, he burned over 1M native born worker jobs but imported 10M illegals and grew their employment by over 4M. If you want to know why your unskilled minimum wage jobs didn't give you a raise - this is why. Now, in your case, the Guatemalan with a 5th grade education is probably smarter (and definitely harder working) than you. So, him getting the job and raise over you was probably justified.
