So, it appears, more for optics and normalization than actually trying to resolve any issue that may exist?

Step by step, the Trumpf junta is normalizing the appearance of the military on American streets.
And here is a recruitment poster for ICE: peoplesworld.org
Notice the symbolic use of the white woman and what looks like fleeing indigenous people.
"Defend the Homeland!"

Like his mythological predecessor, Dummkopf Trumpf and his imbecilic junta have unleashed uncontrollable forces and malice upon America (and the world):

In 1922 after the Greek Army lost Asia Minor and western Anatolia to the re-constituted Turkish army under Mustapha Kemal Ataturk, the catastrophe was so horrific in terms of lost soldiers, materiel, territory, and international prestige, nine Greek generals were immediately court-martialed upon their return to Greece. Six of nine were executed the same day following a hasty and angry military tribunal. Link: en.wikipedia.org In 1933, after President Paul von Hindenburg enabled Adolf Hitler to become Chancellor in 1933 (and then Fuhrer), the Weimar Republic collapsed and soon came the subsequent atrocities of the Nazis. Von Hindenburg's legacy will always be tied to this ignominy. In February 2020, his honorary citizenship of Berlin was revoked. Link: www.historyhit.com Now in 2025 we have the fascist Dummkopf Trumpf junta which is setting America back to pre-FDR days. Republicans and RFK Jr are plotting to undermine the ACA (Obamacare). The GOP and Trumpf created a free-for-all for the oligarchs, the US military is deploying in American cities, and the junta is building an army of loyal government thugs (ICE). ICE is becoming a more powerful agency than the FBI in terms of numbers and their ability to detain people without an arrest warrant. One wonders what these two are thinking right now as this disaster and calamity befall the American people: i.guim.co.uk What could we have done better in 2024 to prevent this cataclysm?

Welp kids, it's over. Our states are falling in line to support the fascist take over.
Whatever we'll be "celebrating" next year, it won't be the United States of America.

The Army National Guardsmen at national monuments won't be armed; the others could be armed and empowered to detain people, according to the US Army. This would be a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act. Link: www.usatoday.com

Meanwhile at the Georgetown University bookstore the line of guardsmen is out the door, all of them seeking Hoyas shirts and caps. At the same time in Southeast DC the only national guard presence is on Oxen Hill road, which is taken from the Beltway to the National Mall, that part of DC being too scary for the out of state visitors to patrol. Anyway the people in Southeast are colored folks ...

Since they aren't in any high crime areas in DC, yes - this is all for Optics.
House Speaker Mike Johnson's Louisiana's 4th congressional district has Monroe LA in it - which has a much higher crime rate than D.C. Where's the Federal response?
In the meantime, Jackbooted thugs beat up a Food Truck vendor and arrested him. No ids, no names, wearing masks. Punching the guy in the face while he was on the ground. Refusing to tell anyone who they are. Finally one flashed an "ICE" badge. One of the "officers" was injured (concussion) from the other "ICE" agents scrumming and hitting and wrestling the food truck vendor to the ground.
---- Trump. ---- his administration. ---- the National Guard for not refusing to serve this fascist garbage.
RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES NOW.

What he is doing is clearing out the homeless encampments that surround and thread their way through all available plots of land surrounding the capital buildings. Beneath all the bridges, inside all the doorways, and overhangs providing the slightest shelter from the sky... you will find an American-born vagabond curled up on makeshift beds. During the daytime... all "the suits" bedazzled with security badges slalom past them on their way to and from work.
When Trumpanzee started painting everything gold... he was just measuring the drapes... to make the place permanent.
Expecting businessmen to agree to peaceful transfer of power after four or eight years... is libertaricl0wn insanity... that was never thought through.

Running Biden was a roll of the dice not knowing if he could make it 2 terms.
Then it was decided late in his first term he needed to step aside.....not criticizing these decisions because I didn't have a better one.
Made it much easier for a republican count on low voter turnout and win back some states lost in the last election.
so...not sure what could have been done better in 2024 to prevent this.

These hick states already send their criminals and homeless drug addicts to our liberal cities so they might as well send their soldiers too. What a crock of ----! Time to divide up the country or at least have the rich cities/states decline to send their tax dollars to the federal government and quit subsidizing these horrid hick states.

#16 Tell us, Eb, what might the Republicans have done better in 2024 to prevent this? You know, those who have all the actual power.
Nice of you to tell the Dems what they 'could have done" better, and in so doing, you pretend that everything the Republicans have inflicted on Americans right is all right and proper.
How bout a few lines on What the Republicans could have done that would have been better for America.
You would rather eat a ---------- and wash it down with warmpiss than call out Republicans for destroying America.

I already said I don't know what could have done to prevent this. Democrats or Republicans

You're that unhinged you take from 1 post that I've said anything of the kind?
Why are you so angry with me? Did I insult you in some previous life? or....your previous handle? What was it, BTW?
Other than not be a republican...I'm not sure you'd accept any answer as to what republicans can do to please you.
and that diet you recommended......maybe rethink what you're consuming. It can't be good for you.
That and the unhinged rage you're displaying here with no justification whatsoever.

Elections are the best explanation for why things happen.
Are you needing some other kind of explanation?

"Elections are the best explanation for why things happen."
That's like saying guns kill people. The gun is the mechanism, that doesn't explain why someone pulled the trigger.
Why'd Republicans fall in love with Trump even harder than Democrats fell in love with Obama?
