More from the cited article ...

... A devout Christian, Thiel is expanding on a number of speeches and public interviews he has given about the Antichrist in a closed, four-part lecture series this month in San Francisco. The second lecture happened on Monday, and the series will end in early October. ...

Mr Thiel is a devout Christian?

Wow, I had not known that based upon his actions I have seen.

I guess "Christians" nowadays aren't what they used to be.

I saw this a while back, the interview where he's asked about whether the AI tools that his company Palantir develops aren't perfect for the AC @ 1:20 in... and acts like he's never thought about what he's doing as being useable that way.

www.youtube.com

The thread article shows he has a very "Left Behind" type understanding of the whole End Times scenario, which is more movie than bible.

Speaking of which, bit more about where the guy who actually fits ALL the dozens of descriptions of the AC in the bible gets his power from a short vid today:

Billionaires have as much chance of going to heaven as a camel passing through the eye of a needle. To coin a phrase.

Fearing or regulating it, or opposing technological progress, would hasten the coming of the Antichrist, Thiel said

I... I... I....

OK, NW me if you agree Peter Thiel is the anti-Christ.

There is no god, at least there is no great power living in the clouds looking out for your and I, so of course, there is no antichrist.
He seems to me living in a deluded state thanks to some personal trauma, though perhaps it is all just because he knows there are a lot of people out there who belong to fundamentalist religions who would belong to his pressure campaign to let AI run wild and, when teamed with Crypto, tank the dollar.

huh. And here I thought Trump was the Anti Christ.
Maybe AI will be used to keep Trump and MAGA going once he sheds this mortal coil.

image of the beast Revelation 13-15

"And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause to be killed as many as would not worship the image of the beast."

There is something wrong with this guy.

I suspect he thinks if he promotes Christianity God will forgive him for being gay.

The problem is his life doesn't reflect Christian values and I'm not talking his sex life I'm talking about who he spends time with who he gives money to much of the things he promotes and how he makes money.

This is delusional.

And a lot of the stuff about LLMs "surpassing human intelligence" is hyper-hype.

Even modern computers can perform a lot of tasks that takes many more orders of magnitude less time than a human could do it. Particularly if we include the time it took to accumulate the knowledge to do whatever is the task. For example, Newton with physics.

Does that make them more intelligent than a human? Of course not.

Why? Because a human prompted the machine to do it.

LLMs are just an advanced way of interfacing with a machine. It's just another programming language. It's not inherently good or bad. Even if it "thinks" it is "alive" (or conscience, whatever you want), it does not.

And language is so limited in terms of its descriptions of our world or reality or creation, or whatever you want. Of course, language can easily be used for "evil". Take Hitler.

We have a saying in grizzly bear country, "don't be afraid, be aware".

AI may soon become smarter not because AI is more intelligent. But because humans have gotten so much dumber.

LLM-virus that has infected our education system. Too many students are not learning how to think and write; they are learning how to use LLMs " no matter that LLM responses cannot be trusted.

It is true that AI does not have self awareness or the creativity and the thinking outside the box approach and self motivated capabilities that the human brain has.

That does not mean it never will. We have no idea as to how or why organic molecules assembled themselves into self motivated organisms that eventually over billions of years developed Consciousness.

If consciousness arises from the brain's ability to integrate information to form a model of the world, an AI might achieve consciousness by replicating this process.

And then buying politicians like Theil bought Vance to be Trump II, if necessary.... and then apparently gave him a lobotomy, as he had been one of the first to compare Trump to Hitler.

Quite good investments, really. Musk has turned his $300 mil into selling Grok to the US Gov for 42 cents *and lots of back doors!

And... Thiel, Musk, and Bannon were just found in Epstein estate docs. Completely innocently, I'm sure.
