The U.S. has finalized its withdrawal from the World Health Organization, one year after President Donald Trump announced America was ending its 78-year-old commitment, federal officials said Thursday.

The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization. This is a shameful move that puts both Americans and people all over the world at greater risk from disease outbreaks, which require international collaboration to contain.

I'm more concerned about "US completes withdrawal from World Health Organization" than I am about $130 million. But I'm quite sure you already know that. You'll have some sort of nonsense to say about my racism or some other stupid...garbage. Enjoy your evening dampnightdepends.

That should free up money for more tax cuts.

Soooooo global public health bad because we shouldn't be the global leader anymore at our own expense...

But flagrant international law violations to steal natural resources for a small group's personal profit is good...

I'm sure the idiots will show up here soon to regale us with their knowledge of how the COVID pandemic went down as justification for this stupidity.

"due to the organization's mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic"

Like how? Makes it sound like the WHO was supposed to make the pandemic go away or something.

The WHO was the only anything in the world to warn us about the pandemic. It obtained a report from China on December 30 2019. Set up an emergency team on January 1. Warned the world on January 5. Declared a public emergency on January 30.

The Trump admin declared a public emergency on January 31. There's no doubt that the US was entirely dependent on the WHO to know about and plan on what was going on.

Oh well, I guess they can always read about the next pandemic or other health emergency. Good luck!

*** California Joins WHO ***

"The next President of the United States, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), announced just one day after the US officially withdrew from the World Health Organization (WHO) that his state would become the first to join the organization's Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network, in a seeming rebuke of the Trumpf junta's idiotic and reckless withdrawal from international collaboration with the prestigious health organization."

California has an economy slightly larger than Japan's, which is a G7 country:

"California's economy surpassed Japan's to become the world's fourth-largest economy as of 2024, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of approximately $4.1 trillion compared to Japan's $4.03 trillion."

*** Senior HHS Advisor Questions Need for Polio Vaccinations (!) ***

FTA:

"Good-for-nothing quack Kirk Milhoan, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, charted a new course for the committee in a podcast released Thursday, idiotically suggesting the American public might want to reconsider the use of polio vaccines, arguing individual freedoms should be a 'North Star' of the panel, and pointing to the Covid pandemic as key to his destructive thinking on US health policy."

For a country that does not have universal healthcare like Germany, Israel, Canada, Denmark, the UK, France, Australia, Albania, or Taiwan, this is a recipe for medical and economic suicide for the US.

The handsome and intelligent Gavin Newsom (D-CA) is a lock to be our next POTUS in 2028 with two simple declarations:

1) "I will immediately dismantle DHS and ICE the moment I sit behind the Resolute Desk on 20 Jan 2029."

2) "I will immediately stop funding nuclear-armed Israel which has a higher standard of living than America."

"In 2025, reports and humanitarian modeling indicated that hundreds of thousands of deaths, a significant portion of which were children, occurred following the Trump administration's decision to shutter the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and freeze foreign assistance.

Key findings regarding these impacts include:

Death Toll Estimates: An analysis by Boston University epidemiologist Brooke Nichols estimated that the aid cuts caused more than 750,000 deaths, including over 500,000 children. These deaths were linked to malnutrition, pneumonia, diarrhea, and untreated infectious diseases like malaria.

Malnutrition Impact: The cessation of USAID programming, which previously funded 50% of global therapeutic food for children, reportedly left approximately 1 million malnourished children without treatment. Specific reports from the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya noted that thousands starved after rations were cut to as low as 20% of the daily minimum."

None of which was necessary; given a bit of notice, other nations and agencies could have made of the difference in food and medicine.

But no, that money was needed for tax cuts for Trump and his Billionaire Donors.

And Trumpers are obviously damn proud of it.

I'm missing the part about how dropping out of the WHO and foregoing polio shots makes this country great. I thought it was great BECAUSE we had tippy-top healthcare and no polio. I guess to achieve greatness we gotta go backward, so as to advance. Or, just go backward.

We are living under a Malthusian Fourth Reich: Eugenics, fascism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, starvation, disease promotion, all to cull the masses for the oligarchs because we outnumber them five billion to one.

We are simply organ donors or tools for the oligarchs, otherwise they see the hoi polloi as using up their scarce resources (oxygen, water, and foodstuffs).

I think this is wonderful.

We are going to get rid of mandatory vaccines for polio, measles, etc.

Democrats will get the vaccines. Republicans won't.

Republicans will die and the world will become a better place.
